She is the daughter of King Harald III Sigurdsson and Ellisif Jarisleifsdatter. [1]
It is said that when King Harold set out on his great expedition to England he took Eliabeth and her daughters, Maria and Ingigerd with him. [2] It is further said that he left them in Orkney where Maria died in 1066, on the same day as her father. [3]
FROM NORWAY WIKIPEDIA: Maria Haraldsdatter (born ca. 1046, died 25 September 1066) was a Norwegian princess. She was the daughter of Harald Hardrada and Ellisiv of Kiev. When he sailed on (invasion from 1009 to 1012,) against England in 1066, he brought his new wife Tora Torberg Daughter, and her daughter Maria was left in Orkney. The King had promised her to prince Øystein Orre, who was with him at hærtoktet. According to Heimskringla she died in Orkney same day and time as her father was killed in the Battle of Stamford Bridge. Maria Haraldsdatter is the first known Norwegian named Maria.
