Answer: The meme originated from people predicting or joking about planning events on certain days. Examples include “Me when the Queen dies on April 26th, 2023”, while impossible to know if it’s going to happen on that day, people had fun predicting stuff would happen like that. The fog is simply another terrifying and ominous event being predicted, originally on tik tok a lot of people joked about the fog consuming everything in its path, simply because it was so bizzare and funny it caught on, eventually entangling itself with the “predicting future events” meme

Not gonna lie, as dumb as it is this meme really freaks me out, probably my overactive imagination. Something about the vagueness and eeriness really gets to me, to the point where I'm up at night feeling like a scared five year old and constantly glancing around the room.

Answer: I'm unsure of where it originated, but there's quite a lot of memes relating to catastrophic events happening at an oddly specific date. A lot of people, including myself, enjoy setting reminders using the remindme bot just in the off chance we're still on reddit by then. I think people just like to make believe, and once one person makes a meme it only takes a few others to make similars ones and it's become an entire genre of meme

Answer: I do not remember the movie name nor did I watch it, but I believe that this has some concept to a movie made in 2019 (I believe) that was basically an SCP, and when the “fog took you” you basically became a zombie trying to get other humans
(Do not take my absolute word for this as I have not seen the movie and this don’t know the whole story, however according to the trailer, this is true.)

For me when I first saw this trend I immediately thought about the movie Interstellar
The first thing that came to mind when I saw this trend is a creepypasta written by an Italian youtuber named mortebianca, where a fog coming from the edge of the universe was consuming everything on its path.
