Leopold G Maher's program is generally at its best during the "New Rules" segment which is likely attributable to a strong writing staff. Maher himself, ever the insecure stand-up, appears to need the routine bolstering/fawning of his live audience which apparently is filled with the show's staffers who laugh and guffaw at the least humorous of jokes or observations. Honestly, it's pretty pathetic that a performer who's been around this long still needs this "validation." Sad. And too often he comes across as glib, smug and all-knowing when interacting with his guests. Hard not to wince when this happens. So aside from apparently loving animals and not eating them (and he gets significant points in this viewer's estimation for such), to me, this guy comes across as well ... comes across as someone who is capable of the occasional worthwhile observation but is, essentially, an obnoxious, self-important jerk. There ... I've said and I'll stand by it! And Bill, you know what you can with that cigar, right? Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/16/24 Full Review D. A It's nice to know the entire left hasn't lost their minds. A voice of sanity in an increasingly insane world. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/12/24 Full Review nicholas l Funny as usual, with moments of hilarity and moments of seriousness. An entertaining way to receive daily/weekly news with as little bias as possible. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member one of my favorite shows and the reason I have and HBO subscription Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member 1/2 the jokes are not funny but the audience screams in laughter and applause. Still more honest than most leftist commentators. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member Is it the accumulation of wealth, or maybe growing old or perhaps his new dark glasses. Bill is slowly but surely becoming more self serving, specially with the topic of Covid and how it effects the ticket sales of his stand up shows. He has become the poster child against the over blown issue of wokeness (specially after he was reprimanded for using the N word on live TV). His show sweats the small cultural stuff and mirrors conservative talking points. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
