Eerie and satirical, Motel Hell has no vacancy when it comes to low-brow horror gags.

Keith Phipps The Dissolve ...a low-budget shocker that's picked up a sizable cult following over the years, thanks in no small part to Calhoun, whose welcoming smile and aging matinee-idol looks made his turn as a villainous madman fond of human flesh all that more effective. Rated: 3/5 Aug 11, 2014 Full Review Roger Ebert Chicago Sun-Times Motel Hell is a welcome change-of-pace; it's to The Texas Chainsaw Massacre as Airplane! is to Airport. Rated: 3/4 Oct 23, 2004 Full Review Phil Edwards Starburst Even though Motel Hell does fall between the two stools of horror and comedy rather clumsily at times, it is an interesting variation in horror cinema. Jul 26, 2022 Full Review Philip French Observer (UK) Motel Hell is a queasy cross between Sweeny Todd and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, a camp comedy that could put sensitive people off cannibalism and chainsaws for life. Apr 7, 2022 Full Review David Nusair Reel Film Reviews It's certainly a workable, promising setup that's consistently employed to inept and flat-out unwatchable effect... Blue I dont like nudity being flashed on my screen multiple times very much. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 10/28/23 Full Review Jonathan O Motel Hell is really fun horror comedy about preservatives. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 08/06/23 Full Review Ricky R This movies charm is it's quirky personality and the performances from the lead cast members which are perfectly bizarre. There is a lot missing though. The gore is mild and pretty cheesy and the humor is sparse when not unintentional. That being said, it's a fun watch which will be appreciated by fans of 80's horror camp. It earns every bit of it's cult status for sure. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 05/03/23 Full Review Steve D Fails in both comedy and horror. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/13/23 Full Review B Rad I have loved this movie ever since I was a kid. Great cast and really fun. Not all that gory but some dark humor and very entertaining. A must in my DVD collection Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member Meat’s meat, and a man’s gotta eat. Motel Hell does a great job at being both creepy and funny. It knows that it’s campy and plays to that, while still adding in parts that give you that eerie feeling that makes you not want to travel down backroads in unknown places. Motel Hell may not be that over the top horror movie, but it’s bizarre enough to catch your interest and think about again down the road. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 10/18/22 Full Review Read all reviews
