At the Annual Town Meeting and at last week’s local ballot voters approved a series of important new large capital projects. Combined with the more typical dollars approved as part of the regular capital budget presented in Article 5 at the Annual Town Meeting, the Town will be able to continue the good progress being made re-investing in the facilities, equipment, and infrastructure needed to provide reliable municipal services.

Your town government is highly dependent on residents volunteering to serve on a wide array of local boards and committees. Nearly 200 residents serve on 28 boards and committees ranging from the Affordable Housing Trust to the Zoning Board of Appeals. While no one is getting rich monetarily - everyone who serves, including elected officials, does so without any pay – volunteers universally express the satisfaction they get from contributing to town affairs.
Co-designing a Flood Resilient Masco Park By Gregory T. Federspiel April 29, 2024
Residents got a taste of what is in store for certain areas of Town with the flooding that occurred this past winter. While no especially large storm struck, extensive high waters flooded Masconomo Park multiple times and even made Beach Street impassable once during high tide. Other low-lying areas were also flooded. We can expect this type of flooding to happen more frequently and cause more damage unless we take measures to better hold back or otherwise accommodate water.
