Hilly views from Mira Loma
South of State Route 60 and along Interstate 15, the Riverside County residential community of Mira Loma sits in the heart of southern California’s Jurupa Valley just 25 miles southwest of San Bernardino. Spanish for “Hill View,” Mira Loma is rimmed to the north by the Jurupa Mountains and to the south by the Santa Ana River, cradling this community within the natural scenery of the Inland Empire.

Ranchos and ranches
Formerly known as Wineville, a town prominently featured in the 2008 drama film “Changeling,” Mira Loma was a farming community for much of its two-century-long history. Mira Loma’s housing stock reflects this town’s long history, including its Mexican origins and its agricultural heritage. North of Bellegrave and west of Etiwanda Avenues, one can find 2-story Spanish Colonial-style homes built in the mid-2010s, averaging 2,500 square feet with 3 beds and 2 baths on 8,000-square-foot lots. Between Bellegrave and Limonite Avenues, ranch-style homes from the 1950s through ‘70s vary in size on either side of Etiwanda Avenue, skewing larger to the west and smaller to the east. In northwestern Mira Loma, west of the 15, the 717 manufactured homes of all-ages Swan Lake Mobile Home are clustered on Swan Lake. In the southeast, Bridle Path at Paradise Knolls has apartment-style condos that average 2,400 square feet, with 3 to 5 bedrooms. Houses vary in price from $60,000 for manufactured homes to $1.2 million for newly built model homes.

From horses to hole-in-ones
The outdoors plays a major role in shaping daily Mira Loma life, as well as recreational opportunities. Many Mira Loma residents keep horses, often boarding them at area stables. Silver Lakes Equestrian and Sports Park is just southwest, and a swath of the Santa Ana Trail follows Mira Loma’s southern border. Smaller green spaces can also be found throughout the area, including Vernola Family Park, Limonite Meadows, Laramore Park and the Delaware Greenbelt. Knowles Field offers a baseball field, and north in Glen Avon, batters can practice (and play) at Big League Dreams Sports Park. The 18-hole public course at Goose Creek Golf Club sprawls across the Hidden Valley Wildlife Area and includes some of the Santa Ana River.

Surrounded by shopping
Shopping conveniences of all kinds are accessible within a short drive from the heart of Mira Loma. Just west of the 15, Eastvale Gateway shopping center includes Vons, Target, Home Depot, Starbucks, restaurants and a movie theater. East of the 15 and south of Limonite Avenue, Vernola Marketplace has Ross, Michael’s, Lowe’s, BevMo and more. There’s one Stater Bros Market in town, and east of Etiwanda Avenue above 58th Street one can find a ton of locally owned Mexican eateries.
