We both enjoyed our appetizers and entrees. My husband had the escargot and I had the seated tuna. Entrees for my husband was trio of tenderloin which was venison, elk and bison . He loved them all! I had the filet mignon which was also very good. Janice was an excellent waitress!

The attractive setting lived up to the fine dining description but sadly nothing else did. The dining room is bright and nicely furnished. This was the best part of the evening. The service was painfully slow despite being early on a Tuesday when the dining room was almost empty. Cocktails were very slow and one of the two was not correct. Our server then explained that two popular menu items were not available. So we both ordered the Lamb Chops which were very tough and full of gristle. The meal was plated nicely but almost uneatable. The hostess/manager noticed we did not finish our meals and asked how was our dinner. When told the lamb was not good quality she said she and the chef were aware and almost took it off the menu. WHAT??? You knew the meat was poor quality but served it anyway? We were not interested in any compensation for the poor quality and none was offered. I would not recommend Jakes.

If you have time to sit down and enjoy a good meal in Deadwood, definitely eat at Jake’s! Great ambiance and excellent service! The food did not disappoint….we will be back as they have proven they know what they are doing in the kitchen.

I would have liked to be impressed with more than just the gorgeous building & luxurious decoration. It is indeed a fabulous building, with a very impressive aesthetic. If that was all that mattered 5 stars for sure. But I paid $50+ dollars for a trio of loin with a side of sloppy julienne cut root vegetables. The meat was good. Over fifty dollars good? No. My poor husband ordered the Scallop Appetizer for $25.00...and all two of the average sized scallops were just drowned in layers of oily sauces that were so entwined with eachother the flavors were not hardly recognizable. I had the escargot appetizer, which were completely overpowered by breadcrumbs & butter. I realize this restaurant is catering to those in a different tax bracket than I am, but I honestly just expected the higher price point to mean that the food would be impressive. I just wasn't impressed with the food, felt like something Whiskey Creek could have done just as well. But it was a really beautifully decorated building, it certainly felt like a fine dining experience, just didn't taste like one.

Everything was great except the sticky rice puck that came with the salmon. That was tasteless. I would suggest they serve a rice pilaf with the salmon. The prices are pretty high.

The restaurant is absolutely beautiful and the atmosphere perfect. The service was also excellent. The quality of the food would not qualify for fine dining, however the prices do. Sadly, we will not be back.

The most amazing meal we've had in the Black Hills. The steak was absolutely perfection. The escargot was delightful and perfect. A great wine list as well. Our server, Janice, was perfect and so friendly. If you are looking for high end dining with a cozy atmosphere, Jake's is it! We will be back!

We had eaten there about a year earlier and the food was delicious. This time the food was not good. The lobster and crab wontons for the appetizer was delicious but the macadamia nut crusted halibut was more like a breaded then deep fat fried pice of fish. More like dry bar food. My wife’s pheasant gnocchi was so so. The pheasant was good but the sauce had almost no flavor at all. Stick with the steak if you go there

Very good food, great service, we enjoyed our dinner at Jake's very much. The Trio of Tenderloin is excellent and you can't get it anywhere else. The Top dining experience in Deadwood.

Jake’s, fine dining…waited 50 minutes before we were served our wine, which came 20 minutes after our appetizers. At every chance the waiter tried upselling to the next pricier item with careless regard to our opinions. One point in the meal the waiter shushed me while I requested more water (That had been empty for 20 minutes and two visits from him), then proceeded to forget the water entirely. They attempted to take multiple plates away from us while we were still dining to move us on with the next course. Honestly the food was good, but arguably the service of “fine dining” should be impeccable, and the service here was atrocious. I’ve had better, more genuine service at dive bars. Will not be returning and will not be recommending Jake’s to anyone.

The experience started out well. We waited a few minutes on the couches next to the fireplace until our table was ready. When ready our coats were taken and we were escorted to our seats. An anniversary card was on the table waiting for us from the restaurant. It was a nice touch. The server was friendly enough although not very personable. When we started to get our meal is when things started to go downhill. The lobster and crab wonton appetizer was tasty, but there was very little meat in the wonton. The salad was fine. The halibut was tasty although the pineapple sauce which cover the plate soaking into the halibut and the spring roll was over-powering. It worked well for the Halibut as the flavor of the fish and the sauce went well together. I felt the spring roll was very bland even after soaking up the sauce which didn't pair well with it. My wife had pheasant gnocci. The pheasant was dry, and the entire plate soaked in stewed tomatoes. There were some good ideas behind these dishes, but the flavor profiles were not well thought out and the food was definitely sub-par as a result. I used to love Jakes when the meals were well put together and the atmosphere was very pleasant. Now, it is casual dining at a fine dining price.

The surf and turf Valentine's Day special was excellent as was the Filet Oscar. Chocolate creme brulee was excellent but the Kuchen, not so good.

My wife had the Filet Oscar and it was perfect. I had the the Triple Tender Loin consisting of Buffalo, Elk and Venison. The venison was outstanding, the elk was a little dry and the buffalo was good. We had the Lobster Wonton for an appetizer and cheesecake for dessert. Overall a great experience. We’ll be back.

The food was very however they forgot to serve part of a plate and had to ask. We had a nice bottle of wine with dinner and order dessert and the bill came with it. Very clear they were ready for us to go. We were only there for an hour and 1:15. Had to ask for them to cork the bottle so we could leave. Wife said she probably would not come back. To summarize, the experience we got on the front side was excellent and personal. The experience on the back side was abrupt and impersonal.

Our server was as helpful as can be. I also got reservations for this dinner for my boyfriend’s birthday. They wished him happy birthday with a great card and saved a cheesecake slice just for us. The dinner was delicious! I’m not a steak person due to personal reasons but I got a medium rare filet mignon and it was fantastic! Couldn’t get enough of it. Thank you guys for a great last night in Deadwood!
