Colombia Pictures and Sony Pictures Animation have released the first Hotel Transylvania 2 trailer for director Genndy Tartakovsky’s animated sequel. The follow-up finds the titular hotel relaxing its “monsters only” policy, but Adam Sandler’s Dracula has bigger fish to fry. His half-human, half-vampire grandson Dennis starts showing signs of being more human than vampire, so Dracula and his ghoulish pals put the child through a rigorous “monster-in-training” boot camp, only to find Dracula’s own father Vlad (Mel Brooks) making a surprise visit. Meanwhile, Selena Gomez’s Mavis is in for a culture shock when she goes to meet her human-in-laws.

I didn't see the first movie, and honestly I have no intention of doing so.  But as far as looking like an amusing family film, this trailer makes a pretty good sell.  I'm still not going to rush out to see the original, but I'm amazed any time a film involving Adam Sandler gets a chuckle out of me, and this trailer got more than one.

Watch the first Hotel Transylvania 2 trailer below. The voice cast also includes Andy Samberg, Kevin James, Fran Drescher, Steve Buscemi, Molly Shannon, Keegan-Michael Key, and Mel Brooks. Hotel Transylvania 2 opens in theaters on September 25th.

Here’s the official synopsis for Hotel Transylvania 2:

The Drac pack is back for an all-new monster comedy adventure in Sony Pictures Animation's Hotel Transylvania 2! Everything seems to be changing for the better at Hotel Transylvania... Dracula’s rigid monster-only hotel policy has finally relaxed, opening up its doors to human guests. But behind closed coffins, Drac is worried that his adorable half-human, half-vampire grandson, Dennis, isn’t showing signs of being a vampire. So while Mavis is busy visiting her human in-laws with Johnny – and in for a major cultural shock of her own – “Vampa” Drac enlists his friends Frank, Murray, Wayne and Griffin to put Dennis through a “monster-in-training” boot camp. But little do they know that Drac’s grumpy and very old, old, old school dad Vlad is about to pay a family visit to the hotel. And when Vlad finds out that his great-grandson is not a pure blood – and humans are now welcome at Hotel Transylvania – things are going to get batty!
