All the clichés wrapped up in a nice PG package. It's like if Hallmark made a horror movie.
It's odd seeing a PG level horror film that's aimed at adults who watch daytime TV. Usually PG chillers are geared towards kids. Goosebumps springs to mind and at least that film has a bit of a nasty edge when it needs to. Summoned is way more sanitised, it has that midafternoon gloss and it segways into investigative procedural about midway through then never really tries to be a horror movie from that point. Anytime there's even a hint of a dead body the camera cuts away. There are a few half-arsed jump scares early on. That's about it.
It's nice to see Cuba Gooding Jr. though.
What starts out as a strong supernatural thriller devolves into a lifetime movie crime drama with little tension, but a solid twist.
This one really missed out on being quite fun. What started potentially promising enough as a somewhat decent supernatural-based slasher instead turns into a rather bland and utterly pedestrian thriller that is rather uninteresting for the most part. The whole film is reliant on setting up the final twist which is completely impossible to actually play out in this manner since it undermines the entire film to the point that it questions every possible and potential outcome that could've occurred through that setup and brings the entire film down because all the possible supernatural antics that were featured here tend to drastically lower this one. The bland and predictable outcomes that are normally featured here in the attempt to get…
It wasn't as bad as the reviews suggested. A B-movie for sure, but not that bad. A murder mistery with supernatural elements and some twists. If you have nothing else to watch, give it a try but don't expect much.
Not the best film Cuba has ever been in but it had a good premise, but I just found it boring, so boring, it takes a lot for me to like a movie fully nowadays, it sucks.
It’s rare to see a film advertised as a horror that’s also a PG, I wasn’t expecting much to be honest.
I didn’t hate this plot but it’s not particularly original, I had an alright time but this feels forgettable, definitely not worth a repeat watch.
