Nestled on the beach, Ocean Mist Beach Hotel & Suites offers enviable oceanfront views and is conveniently close to local attractions, which travelers often laud. Despite the allure of multiple pools and family-friendly amenities, guests have called out inconsistencies in their upkeep. Opinions on the hotel's value are mixed; some feel it's overpriced, citing outdated and sometimes unclean rooms. Experiences with the staff vary, with reports of both friendly and unresponsive service. While the atmosphere and room vistas are praised, there's a consensus that a refresh in decor is needed.

We stayed in Room 230 (suite with 2 queens and loft). I’m glad we didn’t cancel our stay after reading the negative reviews. It was great for us...Private Beach (lots of seaweed) but we enjoyed it. Front desk and employees are very helpful and friendly. Pool is only for 15 people at a time and for 30 minutes and reservation is required. I would suggest increments of 45 minutes instead. Ask for extra towels since there is no cleaning service. Garbage is picked up but you You have to leave outside. Balconies are small. This hotel is nothing fancy but it is clean. Oceanfront is really not ocean front....but you do see oceanfront your room. Stove top available. Bring pots and pans and dish detergent.

Beware of "partial ocean view." I was seeking an affordable hotel on the water and this seemed like a good choice with an advertised partial ocean view. When I think of that term, I imagine an angled view or a partially obstructed view. I do not imagine a skylight with a tiny sliver of water that you can see only if you are standing in one odd spot on a staircase. The actual view out of the balcony was 100% parking lot. There were also climate control issues in the room. It was 80 degrees when we arrived and it took forever to cool down (it was a two story loft room), and then the next day when we were out and about and the room was serviced, they shut off the A/C again, so when we returned after a long day the room was 77 degrees again and we had to wait again for it to cool to a comfortable temperature when we had returned wanting to relax. The location itself was nice, on the beach. The hotel's beachfront area was small but nice. There was an outdoor pool and hot tub, but the hot tub was not working while we were there. At check in, I asked about the location of the hot tub and the worker said it had "just been inspected by the state" and it wasn't working because they were "just finishing up a few things." We checked it a couple times during our stay and there was water in it but it was still cold. This was a bummer...I was looking forward to sitting in the outdoor hot tub. I would have had a much more positive review of this place if the partial ocean view was described more realistically and I hadn't walked into an 80 degree room to meet that frustration. It just really felt like a disappointment after I planned my trip really carefully for my mom and sister.

I had a king ocean front with pull out. (it was really ocean front at least)

Pluses- ocean front location, room quality/cleanliness, comfortable bed.

Negatives - customer service, ugly sea weed filled beach/water with no social distancing enforced, room not ready at check in time (so you lose 2 hours of your time there.),
no information given about what to do with trash and towels, no one answers the front desk call from the room. Never felt relaxed and refreshed at all. Also If you have any mobility or issues moving bags up a narrow flight of stairs ask for patio level.

I expected more for the money but maybe that's just the cape. It looks more run down in person on the outside than pictures show. I never saw a fire pit or used the outdoor pool (very small, standard inground pool)

Also parking is awful. the king ocean fronts are at the far end of the building and there isn't even a parking area near that stairwell.

Over all I’d give this hotel a 3.5 star rating. The room size is decent, however, the bathroom is a little tight and somewhat out dated and not very clean as you can see the filth built up in the tiles in plain sight! The beach has a great view but is filled with shells and seaweed that sticks and attracts mosquitoes, if you look a couple of resorts down on the beach or at the public beach next door it is racked with no seaweed. The pool is limited to 15 people and has very short hours which is understandable due to Covid. For the money I’m paying I would have expected a couple of things: clean towels which is a hassle to get from them daily and you have to practically beg for, or at least drop them off daily since they are not cleaning rooms due to Covid. If you aren’t going to clean the rooms or empty trash you should discount the pricing.

The room smelled very musty which I kind of expect since we are on the water then I looked at the air filters in the AC unit (see attachment). You need to slam the room door and bathroom door to get them to close because they are swollen from moisture.

If you are looking for a hotel that is not going to break the bank and want a view but don’t mind the quirks then stay here. If you want classy service stay elsewhere.

$500/night and the room description from the confirmation email says "Room Type: Two Queen Poolside with Private Patio and Kitchenette. Features two queen size beds, and approximately 250 square foot private patio, and are located closest to the outdoor pool. Also includes new kitchenette with cooktop, sink, refrigerator and microwave. Guest room offers luxurious bedding with imported linens, 42" LCD TV with DVD player, and HD cable. Bathroom features custom cabinetry, granite vanities, Grohe faucet set, Speakman shower heads, and luxurious bath amenities. Also provided are electronic safe, iron and ironing board, and gourmet coffee and tea."

Reality: Couldn't see the pool/overlooked the parking lot, patio was half the size as promised, "kitchenette" was a mini fridge and microwave with no cooktop, bathroom was not renovated and had an old cracked sink and no "Grohe faucet set." They used COVID as an excuse for why they can only clean between stays and offered to give me clean sheets so I could remake my own bed. Per mass.gov, housekeeping can occur as long as guests aren't currently present in the room. Overall location and beach were nice, the pool was closed for all but a few hours a day, the room wasn't at all as described, and they used COVID as an excuse to not provide housekeeping. It definitely wasn't worth $500/night.

If i could give this no stars I would. This was a last minute booking for my boyfriend and I in which we booked directly through the hotel website. Looked nice from the pictures but this was not no half a million dollar renovated hotel.
Check in took about 30 mins which was fine due to covid 19 but only one person was on. Once I got to my room, my boyfriend and I walked right out because the bed was undone, trash was everywhere and the room wasn’t cleaned. We go back to the front desk and tell the person on duty who was pleasant and went to go check the room. Came back and apologized and said the room will be cleaned right then and to come back in about a half hour. So we go back to the car. I see our “maids” go and bring towels and sheets to the room. One man was walking and throwing wrappers in their own parking lot. I think He littered about 5 times. And most importantly they walked in the room with no masks, no gloves, not even a vacuum to sweep up the floor. We walked by twice and got skieved out. They made the bed so fast it just looked like they tucked in the sheet and didn’t even change the sheets. Mind you we were there by 7 checked in 7:30 didn’t even make it back into the room because we requested a refund. I was not staying here where there was no safety regulations regarding covid 19. I didn’t feel safe and the place just seemed dirty at that point. By this time I walked in and out of the front desk for 5 people to complain about similar issues about the cleanliness of their rooms. If your looking for a beach resort, do not book a room here. I was supposed to get an email from the manager, never got one and it’s now Monday. This all happened on a Friday night. The best part was I even called to make sure my room was ready and they said it was all set hours before we came. Poor management and a unclean hotel to stay at. Defintely not worth 400 a night to stay at. Big disappointment.

Recently stayed at this resort. As soon as we opened the room door, we were hit with a strong musty, moldy smell. All of us woke up the following morning with a headache, sore throat and runny nose from the mold. I noticed mold growing on the bathroom wall/ceiling, though it appeared that the bathroom had recently been painted.
The private beach is in need of 'manicuring' and seaweed removal.
Some of the lounge chairs overlooking the beach didn't work properly... you couldn't put the back up or down as it was broken.
I was quite disappointed as I had stayed at the resort a few years ago and was very please with my stay.

Amenities such as the outdoor pool, the access to the beach and proximity to the main street in Yarmouth were great, but that was pretty much it.

We booked directly with the phone number on their site and we were told we'd get a loft suite with a door opening directly to the beach. Got there, we had to go to this random door that lead inside, upstairs with no direct access to the beach. The room was filthy and NOTHING like the pictures on their site. Old plastic sun bleached chairs on the balconies, not the ones pictured. Our skylight shade was broken and our balcony screen door was bent and broken. They also couldn't even give us 4 chairs for the table inside the room. Carpet turned your feet black in 10 minutes, coffee pot wasn't cleaned, a juul pod and soda cans were left from previous guests, that the housekeepers didn't clean. Housekeeping took our 2 rolls of toilet paper out of our room, during our stay, and on most days didn't come to our room to clean until after 2PM, then left garbage in the hallways until after 6PM.

Rudest front desk staff I've ever experienced. Had to ask for sheets and blankets for the foldout couch and they only gave a flat and fitted sheet. No blankets, no pillows. We told the front desk attendant about how dirty our room was and how nothing is like we were expecting and she said "That's not her issue we needed to call booking and complain to them." She was not nice and never got any sort of apology from her, but did give us 10% off our first night.
While checking out, a new front desk attendant almost wouldn't give us the 10% off the first night and was very rude and couldn't be bothered with us. A manager was standing nearby (which she gave attitude to him too) and thankfully gave us the 10% off.

In talking with other guests during our stay, they all had multiple problems as well.
Overpriced, rude, and filthy. There are other hotels, that are a lot less money, that are better than this one.

There is clearly something going on at the Ocean Mist- I am seeing older reviews that are really very favorable, but we had a really poor experience. We were not able to check in until 7:00 PM- so crazy that our room took all day to get cleaned. When we got into the room the carpet and upholstered chairs were soaking wet so we had nowhere to sit. I called the front desk to get sheets for the pullout and it just rang and rang. It turns out the pull out sofa in the loft squeaked SO LOUD that the bed wasn't usable. This was the whole point of booking at the Ocean Mist, so a HUGE miss there. The rate was in excess of $530 over the weekend and I can't stress enough how much this hotel IS NOT WORTH IT ! Do yourself a favor and book at one of the Red Jacket hotels right down the street.

By the way, management's response to the late checkin was quite poor and I called on 5 different occasions with NO return phone call.

I’ve been coming here with family for several years now. We had our annual Labor Day weekend visit planned and we canceled last minute.
No mention at time of booking or on their website that they implemented a pool sign-up due to COVID-19.
We visit for the beach & pool. Telling kids they can only swim at the pool for 30 minutes is ridiculous!
I realize they are trying to be safe, but making people sign up for a slotted time isn’t the way to go about it. Having to plan a day around a pool “reservation” time isn’t exactly relaxing and going with the flow on vacation. And shame on them for not telling people in advance!
Thanks to Trip Advisor we found out prior to arrival and were able to book somewhere else where we will have the freedom to use the pool throughout the day and can exercise our own judgement should we feel it’s too crowded.
