Karen O & Danger Mouse – Lux Prima Lyrics | Genius Lyrics

Lux Prima Lyrics

[Intro]
Faithful
Sunshine
Faithful
Sunshine

[Verse 1]
No eyes open, no eyes closed
No smoke on your breath, no eyes closed
No sun on the glass, no darkness
No eyes, nobody but you

[Chorus]
I'm nowhere, I'm no one, I'm nobody
There's nobody but you
I'm nowhere, I'm no one, I'm nobody
There's nobody but you

[Bridge]
Look, boy, you stay on my mind
Look, boy, you stay on my mind
Look, boy, you stay on my mind
Look, boy, you stay on my mind

[Verse 2]
No eyes open, no eyes closed
It's not what you said, no eyes closed
No drops in the glass, no one listening
No sound, nobody but you
[Chorus]
I'm nowhere, I'm no one, I'm nobody
There's nobody but you
I'm nowhere, I'm no one, I'm nobody
There's nobody but you

[Post-Chorus]
(No, no, no eyes open)
No one listening
(No, no, no eyes open)
No sound, nobody but you

[Outro]
Flash, flash, flash
Flash, flash, flash, flash
Flash, flash, flash, flash
Flash, flash, flash, flash

About

Genius Annotation

The first single from a collaborative LP between the Yeah Yeah Yeahs‘ frontwoman, Karen O, and acclaimed producer, Danger Mouse, sees the two ride a classic trip-hop orchestration into a nine-minute psychedelic string-lulled odyssey about being nowhere and everywhere at the same time.

The nine-minute title-track was the first the pair wrote during their first week working together. According to a NPR article, the ideas for the song sprang forward after they had been listening to several longer songs — such as Michael Kiwanuka’s track “Love and Hate.” After four or five days of trying new ideas, Danger Mouse said the song “Lux Prima” simply linked all their ideas together.

What did Karen O & Danger Mouse say about "Lux Prima"?
Genius Answer

After making music for the past twenty years and embarking on making this record with Danger Mouse I knew a couple things: one was that the spirit of collaboration between us was going to be a pure one, and two was that the more I live the less is clear to me. When you create from a blurry place you can go places further than you’ve ever been. I think we both were excited to go far out.
— Karen O via press release

With “Lux Prima,” we were really looking for a place rather than a sound. It was our first shared destination so we thought we’d take our time getting there. The song itself is a bit of a journey, but all the parts felt like they needed each other.
— Danger Mouse via press release

It was our first week and it actually would be less pressure to do something that’s really long like that because it can be whatever it needs to be.
— Danger Mouse, NPR
