History: Hans Nikolaus Eisenhauer, the ancestor of Dwight D. Eisenhower, the 34th president of the US, was born c. 1691 in Eiterbach in southern Odenwald, a part of the former Electorate of the Palatinate, in what is now Hesse. In 1741, at the age of 50, he sailed with his wife and children from Rotterdam to America and settled in Lebanon County, PA.
