Five-star 2026 TE Brock Harris Discusses Notre Dame

One of the most talented prospects offered on Pot of Gold Day, Irish Illustrated connects with Brock Harris to learn more about the five-star tight end and to get his thoughts on Notre Dame.

When Irish Illustrated combed through nearly 100 sophomores offered by Notre Dame on March 17 – Pot of Gold Day – Brock Harris stood out as one of the most talented new additions to the 2026 board.

It's incredible to watch the level of athleticism, size, talent, and natural gifts some young players possess from coast to coast, the physical freaks who operate like grown men on the football field as high school sophomores.

Harris is an example of that jaw-dropping combination of size and skill at such a young age.

Ranked No. 31 overall nationally per 247Sports along with his five-star listing at No. 21 overall via Composite rankings, the Saint George (Utah) Pine View tight end is a towering 6-foot-6 and 238 pounds. But he's not a lumbering, inline-only tight end.

Essentially, Harris is utilized similarly to the way Notre Dame applied Tyler Eifert, often splitting out wide in the red zone to beat man coverage for a jump ball or to simply run by a cornerback on a vertical from midfield.

Although Pine View had a tough run through 2022 and 2023, Harris still managed to record 87 catches for 1,269 yards and 13 touchdowns through just 18 games combined as a freshman and sophomore.

He's a tremendous talent. His film proves it. And so does his offer list.

To learn more about Harris and to get his thoughts on Notre Dame, Irish Illustrated connected with the blue-chip rising junior on Tuesday night.

Sinclair: Tell me a bit about your background in sports, growing up in Utah, and whatever may be notable.

Harris: I originally grew up in Oregon up until my eighth-grade year, and then I moved up here to Utah. I've been playing (football) since second grade. I played up with my brother with the third and fourth graders...

I didn't play tight end ever until last year, I guess, was my first year playing tight end because my freshman year I played wide receiver. But I played running back and linebacker in my youth days...

I think playing receiver as a freshman has helped a lot with playing tight end because I feel like it helped with my route running, and then taking that and adding on the tight end stuff like blocking had helped a lot.

Sinclair: Notre Dame extended an offer to you last month. I know that Utah is far away from Indiana, but it seems everyone knows about Notre Dame, in general. What are your thoughts on getting that offer? What was your reaction to that?

Harris: Absolutely, it's awesome. It was a really good offer, an offer that I was really proud of. Guys like Michael Mayer pop up when I think of them. I know that they produce tight ends. So, it was really awesome getting that offer from them.

Sinclair: Like other facets of football, the tight end position has evolved over the years where there are different categories. There are some who aren't attached to a tackle often, utilized primarily in the slot or out wide. Some are primarily inline with some H-Back duties. Some do a bit of everything.

You have that background as a receiver, which is interesting. How would you classify yourself as a tight end at the next level?

Harris: I honestly think of myself as like a hybrid. I think I can do anything. I can run routes and I can put somebody in the ground as well.

I think I've improved a lot over the past two years, working on my blocking and footwork and stuff like that, and then just constantly working on my route running. So, I think I'm good at both.

Sinclair: Contact between college coaches and 2026 recruits is limited so far. But when it comes to the bit of contact you've had with Notre Dame so far, can you tell me more about that?

Harris: Yeah, I talked to Coach (Mike) Denbrock. He's come to my school. And then Dre Brown, Coach Brown, he's the one that I mainly talk with. He reaches out a lot and I'll call him. And I've gotten on the phone with Coach Denbrock, and he's come to my school.

Sinclair: Do you have plans to get out to any schools this off-season?

Harris: Yeah, I'm going to be at Georgia in June, I think. And then I'll have a Rivals camp, and then I think I'm going to go out to UCLA and maybe Ohio State. Those two aren't for sure yet...on the calendar. But we're talking about it just getting out.

Sinclair: You have a lot of offers, you're a sophomore, there's a lot of time remaining in your recruitment. So, I understand it may be too early to predict. But does Notre Dame seem like a school that you'll take a closer look at, a school that could be a contender for you down the road?

Harris: Absolutely. The tradition and the culture there is unmatched, I think. And I definitely want to come down and see it for myself, see the facilities, and the school and everything like that. So, for sure. I definitely think they're up there.
