Elvis D Considerada como una divertida obra maestra para algunos y una de las peores películas en la historia para otros, Attack Of The Killer Tomatoes es una película que por mucho tiempo ha sido catalogada erróneamente como una película de horror. La realidad es que se trata de una comedia que no pretende ser una buena película. Su objetivo principal es ser una mala película hecha a propósito con el fin de mofarse del cine de monstruos de los años 50, cuando la era atómica tenía gran popularidad en aquel entonces. La película logra cumplir ese objetivo usando a los tomates como un medio para parodiar el concepto de la era atómica, donde cualquier cosa podía convertirse en un ser peligroso por culpa de la ciencia. La película nunca explica por qué los tomates cobran vida, pero hay que reconocer que la película está repleta de muchas incoherencias y sin sentidos. Siendo realistas, es una película que es realmente mala, pero eso hace que tenga un cierto encanto. La película logra ser divertida y provocar risas por medio de sus gags o por su ridiculez. El humor es como el de una caricatura y esta película hace que el concepto de parodia sea llevado a otro nivel. La canción de los créditos iniciales es sin duda lo más memorable de esta película. La película es consciente de lo mala que es y usa eso a su favor para que el espectador se divierta sin la necesidad de tomársela en serio. Es gracias a ello que Attack Of The Killer Tomatoes es una película que logro ganar seguidores y la suficiente aceptación para dar inicio a una franquicia. Es por ser tan mala que acaba siendo buena. The endless kills in ridiculous ways. The unplanned helicopter crash that cost it over half their budget. And most of all, the quality running gags. If that's not enough, note that the song "Puberty Love" was sung by a teen who ended up being the drummer for Soundgarden and Pearl Jam. I don't understand any of the hate for this love letter to B-movie invasion films.
