    How relevant?

    Compared to what?

In my opinion someone spending today poring through Miley Cyrus's mildly serious back catalogue would be essentially throwing away a Saturday, weighing up their mortality and deciding "there is no room for astonishing music today".

If I walk a couple of blocks to Penny Lane later, I'll see coaches disembark of the most enthralled people, who then proceed to take photos of the street sign.

That just... It seems healthier in some way

    More, if you like, relevant

If a compatriot revealed to me she had spent all of Tuesday listening to the Beatles in mono -as it was originally intended - I would welcome them as a true friend.

I don't know what watered down life you want by listening to Miley Cyrus but if you consider all the music you COULD be listening to, it's clear that relevancy is based around what's right.

Something that's near-objectively right and has the most positive outcome is, dare I say, capable of the most relevancy.

I'm not American, so this is kind of mind blowing to learn, and not in a good way.

To me the mono mixes are the ultimate versions, with the exception of 5.1 mixes of Abbey Road, White Album, and Love.

You either want the original UK mono mixes or not. If you do, the Beatles in Mono box is essential. If you don't, no amount of discussion of its "relevance" will make you need to have it.

And most people are fine with colorized movies.

The Beatles mono mixes are the as-the-artist-intended creations. If that doesn't matter to you, that's your perogative. It isn't a homework assignment.

Don't forget the second Atmos mix of Sgt. Pepper, which is unfortunately streaming only but corrects some criticisams people had with the original stereo mix and has become my very favourite Pepper mix.

But yes, you do need a streaming subscription, which I have as a very valuable addition to my own sonic library, but that option is not possible / desirable for everyone.

I listen to selections from the box weekly. I have the cds ripped to my phone. Always end up dancing in my chair listening to drive my car every time.

The Beatles in stereo is a band that wants to charm the listener with effects they don't quite master, soft packages and sonic flattery. The Beatles in mono is a well-shaped fist with harder knuckles and clearer veins. The music gets a stronger support. It sounds amazing.

Saying most people are fine with colorized movies is quite a generalization. I think those who are true fans of a particular movie for whatever the reasons are actually pretty fussy about how colorization-especially poorly done colorization like in the Ron Howard film-will affect the overall atmosphere of the movie. People that are ok with it are more so indifferent than “ok”.

I have the mono set, but I rarely play it. 2.0 in 24/96 always trumps it.

fmfxray373 Capitol LPs in the 70s were pretty good.

The US mono Magical Mystery Tour is a pretty anemic sounding LP.
I have the expensive 1986 Japan mono on red vinyl, a UK top loader OG, the 2014...they get a lot of shelf time.
Glass Onion and the White Album in general sounds much better in stereo because in the bass is much better across the 4 sides in my opinion.
A yawn album can indeed be a collector's item lol.

When I was listening to the mono version on the blu-ray SDE I had to switch to the stereo PCM faster than I usually run to lift the tone arm at the end of Cry Baby Cry.

I never knew there was a "macho" aspect to preferring the Beatles in mono...perhaps that explains my urge to read Ernest Heminway while listening to the Mono Masters collection ;).

I usually strap a dedicated mono turntable to my back with the Mono Masters collection playing while I catch wild salmon with my bare hands out of the cold, powerful currents of a Canadian river to feed my wife and 9 children. The children are all strapping young lads aged 1 to 10 years of age, all with full beards from experiencing early childhood with the Beatles in Mono. My oldest is almost as big as me and can already wear the same size suspenders as me. I usually wear this rig for all my husband chores, and will probably craft a similar turntable back pack for my oldest now that he's coming of age.

The records usually skip a little while I'm chopping down Adarondack Spruce trees for firewood later on, but the audio fist punch provided keeps my tired muscles fueled with testosterone-laden blood and usually works out to a better yield of firewood.

Sounds as good to me today as it did in 2009. Which is very.

Add Abbey Road, Let It Be, "Free As A Bird", "Real Love" and "Now And Then" ... that's the Beatles, compleat. ♡

The Bob Dylan and Beatles MONO CD box sets are my two favorite music items that I own. They are also probably the two most played. Glad I have them.

Very relevant to me. One of my favorite music purchases. And as an artifact of how the Beatles with certain caveats were bent time sound.
