I really enjoyed majoring in Geography. I would like to see more environmental conservation majors/classes being offered. I would like to see it be easier to take classes at SUNY ESF. I enjoyed meeting lots of people. I also enjoyed being a member of the Syracuse University Running Club. I also had a very positive experience receiving accommodation and services for my disability.
Syracuse might not have every aspect of what I want in a college experience, but it delivered on everything it advertised when I applied. The school is very sports and Greek-life focused, with other pursuits like the arts something to be sought out rather than given to you. However, those things are still readily available if pursued. The worst part of Syracuse University is it's location, because Syracuse is a dismal city, and the constant grey cold doesn't help.
I am extensively grateful for the opportunities that Syracuse University granted to me. That said, however, in my last couple of years in my five-year program I started to see things that worried me as someone who cares about the program. The move away from academics as a mode of innovative thinking and deep comprehension of space and design, and the move towards having the curriculum geared towards technological classes aimed at pure "hireability" in the field is something I think will start to negatively affect the program. For example, the fact that students no longer have a hand drawing class in their first year whatsoever is extremely worrying to me. It is key that the teaching of how to think, rather than only how to work, is upheld in the future of this program.
Syracuse University has been an incredible school for me. In the past two years, I have been able to involve myself in Alpha Kappa Psi Professional Business Fraternity, Phi Eta Sigma Honors Society, Renée Crown Honors Society, National Society of Black Engineers, and a mentorship program. These organizations allowed for me to connect with incredible people and grow in my leadership, networking, and communication skills.
work hard play hard. greek life is a large aspect of it but there is an amazing music and creative scene. definitely paying for the name of the university, but the people you meet make up for it.
The Syracuse university that I knew while I was attending was an enjoyable experience in many ways, but is that what college is for?
My favorite part about Syracuse is the student life- the culture, parties, atmosphere at sports games, and community. Seeing some new event on campus everyday or Otto scootering around makes me so happy. I love going to games with my friends, especially football. Classes are alright, some of the professors have been a little difficult but for the most part they are kind and understanding.
Amazing school with amazing students and professors who really care about one another. I love syracuse and I wish that everyone could experience being a student here.
Syracuse has amazing school spirit and is always fun. Even though many of our sports teams aren't as renowned as they used to be, people still go to games and tailgate. Most class sizes are fairly small, but it depends on your specific major. Professors are usually helpful and kind, and know you by name if you introduce yourself, work hard in class, and attend extra sessions or office hours. Overall, I have enjoyed my time at Syracuse and would pick it again if I could go back in time.
Syracuse University has given me the duality of a great academic institution while also offering a fun and social environment. I have had amazing professors who genuinely care about their students and their successes, with easy communication in all aspects. Though the social scene might seem intimidating there are plenty of ways to make real friends (whether it be in your dorm, student orgs, or within your major).
I loved how friendly everyone is and how I am able to adapt easily to a new life away from home. The classes are amazing, and I have so many cool people that I can connect with to learn more about Sports Management.
Syracuse is a great school and has a fantastic array of different opportunities for everyone and anyone. It has all of the different seasons, a ton of diversity, a million clubs and organizations to take part in, and so much more. I have loved my time at Syracuse University so far, I cannot wait to continue my academic career here at SU!
I think that the academics at Syracuse are strong and continuously improving to build optimal programs to help students further their education and have success with their careers or next steps in their education. The campus is beautiful and a great place to hangout, relax, or get work done. However, the city of Syracuse outside of the campus does not offer much life.
Syracuse is a small unique city with plenty of hidden gems. The University, located 5 minutes from the city is a decent-sized campus with a very active student body. I have been exposed to so many different kinds of people at this school, which has helped me to become a better person. I have had invaluable experiences at this University.
I enjoyed my experience as a part of the student body. I think the school is becoming more focused on academics, which is a good thing. I wish they placed more effort in improving in their athletics, and I think their cost of tuition has become way too out of control.
The school overall is good. Great variety of courses and strong connections through all your professors. Most of the professors are cold and hard to get to, but if you do it right they help you soar. The resources are there, but can be hard to get to. There is typically things to do every weekend. You must be VERY social here or it will be extremely difficult to find friends.
Overall Syracuse University has been a decent experience. My professors all have relevant experiences in their industry. The locations and weather is the schools downfall.
