Lexington High School Reviews
Rating 3.87 out of 5 403 reviews
Lexington High School has such great academics for every department. However, there is major favoritism towards STEM, more prominent in math. The environment is extremely competitive and tense. Everyone strives to be the best and do good. Many do prosper as our teachers are great, well some are... others might truly still believe in medieval torture. If you fall behind by even a day, you will struggle no matter the class. There are so many clubs to choose from and if there's not one you are interested in, it is so easy to make one. The school is very clique-y and it can be hard to make and find the right friends. I didn't find good friends until my junior year. Sports are a hit-or-miss; the track team is great and the football team is laughable. Most people move just for the school, and honestly it will help you get into a good school. It is rumored that Lexington High School is harder or the same as college.
Overall, LHS is a great school. There is a wide range of class types, clubs (like 200!) and athletics. The facilities aren't great, but there is work being done on the construction of a new school. Several years away but at least in the works. Some people talk about academic pressure, but that is more a function of specific families or people. Lots of solid students who don't put undue pressure on themselves. The school has a bit of a college campus feel with its 4 buildings, which is one of many cool aspects that help prepare students for the next level. The diversity is significant. Overall, a great school.
My experience at Lexington High school has been overall great. When I had My IEP the support system was hands on, they gave me different accommodations so I can do better In and outside the classroom. Lexington High school doesn't just care about academics but student's mental health. The faculty sets their students up to leave to this school feeling confident and in a good mental stage. My worst parts of the experience was feeling like an outsider, that I didn't see many people around my school of my color. I felt that my identity has been overshadowed. I would like to see a change in the schools in admitting more black students into the school, and try to make them feel more at home like the rest of the kids.
