A young Jewish girl, Sara, is looking to escape the clutches of the Third Reich after seeing her parents and sister brutally slain by a smuggler who betrayed them while attempting to escape to England. Terrified, she is sheltered by her childhood friend Jean, a homosexual in a clandestine relationship with his lover Philippe.

The happy undertones of this movie's poster is the biggest illusion I've seen in a very long time.
Homosexuals were another minority group persecuted by the Nazis and are still awaiting more in-depth analysis to ensure that their story is no longer a footnote in books and films. In this sense, Un amour à taire contributes to the visibility of the subject. Overall it's pretty decent for a TV movie, although less melodrama would have been desirable. In addition, I feel that the two stories that Christian Faure focuses on would work better independently, as together they not only feel overly tragic but are not developed well enough. In the end, it's a flawed but well-intentioned film.

This was really raw,frighteningly eye-opening and extremely accurate to what went on during the Nazi occupation of Europe.History mostly stresses about the Jews and their suffers,but another party of people has suffered the same or maybe more.The homosexuals.This starts as a happy love story with the common drama and ends up being a heartbreaking tale of the trials of a French man in the concentration camps of the third Reich.The happy innocent,care-free half part of the movie becomes a very dark and difficult to watch second part.In both parts the person that is asked to witness all this and finally becomes the central figure in all that is Sara,a young Jewish girl.An amazing European film,really brave and extremely well made.
if this story was directed by an experient director this would be a hell of a movie, but the way it is isn’t bad actually i just wish some thing would have worked out with a better resolution, the pacing is alright but it’s not well balanced and the acting is decent at least

Pretty solidly executed for a TV movie. Interesting especially because of the rare gay/Holocaust content, but also well done in story and pacing.
Totalmente devastada. Queria muito poder escrever mais sobre esse filme mas me encontro em um estado emocional abalado, vou precisar me re-estabilizar durante algumas horas. Mas resumindo, é um drama sério, que ocorreu, fatos existem e não podemos fechar os olhos, queria poder falar a todas as pessoas que se foram naquele período que os amo e eles são pessoas incríveis.

The two gay protagonists disappear from the movie
It was how it was, i have nothing against realistic movies so their tragic fates don't ruin the movie
The movie is ruined by the simple fact that it uses these characters as props and not real human beings, the "real" tragic characters are the two straight leads, the brother who betrays jean over a girl he JUST MET and then kills himself and the girl in question who's love for jean is truly put a the center of the movie, she is our martyr, she suffered "the most", when jean gets deported he catches Her glance and not his long time lover's philippe who just kinda dies and really isnt mention after that.
Extremely dissapointed, we don't exist to make sad movies about girls who fell in love with one gay dude, get over it.
