Magic Mirror (The Lightning Sessions) Lyrics

[Verse 1: John Mark McMillan]
Bloody like my Savior King, you came to me
I’ll admit that I not always had eyes to see
Are you some kind of magic mirror?
Come to show to me
God with my own face, oh
Are you some kind of magic mirror?
Come to show to me
God in time and space, oh

[Chorus: John Mark McMillan w/ Josh Garrels]
I saw the outline of my Maker dancing backlit
By the rays of your incandescent light
I saw the figure of my Father’s shadow dancin’
By the flames of your electric desire
I saw God, I saw God

[Verse 2: Josh Garrels]
The writing on the walls, it's orange and pink and blue
I come home to find the evidence of you
Are you some kind of sacred spirit?
Come to show me
God with my own face, oh
Are you some kind of magic mirror?
Come to show me
God in time and space, oh
[Chorus: Josh Garrels w/ John Mark McMillan]
I saw the outline of my Maker dancing backlit
By the rays of your incandescent light
I saw the figure of my Father’s shadow dancin’
By the flames of your electric desire
I saw God, I saw God

[Refrain: John Mark McMillan]
I saw God, I saw God

What did John Mark McMillan say about "Magic Mirror (The Lightning Sessions)"?
Genius Answer

Over the last decade, nothing has shaped the way I see the world, God, and myself like my children have. This is essentially the idea behind the song “Magic Mirror.“ For this special version on the new "The Lightning Sessions” album, I had the amazing opportunity to collaborate with my good friend Josh Garrels. I felt like his voice was perfect for this part, and being a family man himself, I was sure he’d bring a ton of heart to the song! The tracks he sent me blew me away! This was already one of my favorite songs on the record, and I love it even more now!
