Assessing Seattle Seahawks 2024 Full Regular Season Schedule

The Seahawks don't have the furtherest to travel in year one under head coach Mike Macdonald.

Without an international game on the Seattle Seahawks 2024 schedule, and saving a cross-country flight to Miami, the NFL's team in the furthest upper left corner will travel the third-most of any organization this season.

According to Bookies.com the Seahawks will accrue 25,797 miles and cross 28 times zones in head coach Mike Macdonald's first season.

That gives the 36-year-old ample opportunity to display his brand of football across the country, including four times on primetime against the Chicago Bears, Detroit Lions, Green Bay Packers, and NFC West rival San Francisco 49ers

It all starts week one with the Seahawks opening the season at Lumen Field against Sean Payton and the Denver Broncos

After having a gap year last season the two teams will meet for the first time since the two last opened the season in Seattle in 2021, a 17-16 win for the Seahawks.

The matchup is an early test for Macdonald, one of the top young defensive minds in the league, against Payton, a seasoned offensive-minded coach making his return to the NFL after announcing his retirement in January 2022.

Macdonald, the youngest head coach in the league, and New England Patriots first-year coach Jerod Mayo, the second-youngest coach at 37, square off week week two in Foxborough.

It's the first meeting at Gillette Stadium between the Seahawks and Patriots since former coach Pete Carroll beat Bill Belichick 31-24 in 2016.

The two teams last faced off week at Lumen Field in 2020, a 35-30 victory for Seattle in week two with former quarterback Russell Wilson leading the offense.

Geno Smith, expected to be the Seahawks starter under center in 2024, is 1-3 in his career against the Patriots with all four games being with the New York Jets in 2013-14.

The Seahawks return home week three to host head coach Mike McDaniel and the Dolphins for the first time since 2020 when Brian Flores was leading the team.

In the last two meetings between the two Seattle has dropped both contests by an average of 5 points. This fall the margin is equally as slim with Miami being one of six opponents that made the playoffs last season.

Week four features the first primetime matchup with the Seahawks traveling to Detroit to face the Lions on Monday Night Football.

Last season Smith had one of his better performances against Dan Campbell's team, throwing for 328 yards and 2 touchdowns, including a 6-yard score in overtime to lift the Seahawks to a 37-31 win in week two.

After putting up just one touchdown in the first half, a 3-yard run by second-year back Kenneth Walker III, Seattle outscored Detroit 30-17 in the second half and overtime to come away with the victory.

The Seahawks return home week five to host the New York Giants, pitting 2024 first-round pick, wide receiver Malik Nabers, against 2023 first-round, cornerback Devin Witherspoon, who returned an interception 97 yards for his first career pick six last season off Daniel Jones.

Seattle Seahawks cornerback Devon Witherspoon (21) scores a touchdown after intercepting a pass thrown by New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones (not pictured) in the second half.

Seahawks rookie cornerback Devon Witherspoon returns an interception 97 yards for a touchdown against the New York Giants in 2023.

Former Seahawks backup quarterback Drew Lock could also be under center for Giants against his old team. Lock signed a 1-year contract with the team in free agency after being acquired from the Broncos for Russell Wilson back in March 2022.

The following four weeks will see two divisional match-up's against San Francisco week six and the Los Angeles Rams week nine before the team hits its bye week.

Fortunately for the Seahawks three of the four games are at Lumen Field with only a cross-country flight to Atlanta week seven to face one of either Kirk Cousins or rookie quarterback Michael Penix Jr.

Coming out of the bye week Macdonald will see Kyle Shanahan again in San Francisco week 11 before facing division rival Arizona Cardinals in weeks 12 and 14, broken up only by a long flight to New York to play the Jets.

The Seahawks will play their only Sunday night game of the season week 15 against the Packers at Lumen Field with another NFC North team, the Minnesota Vikings, coming to town the following week.

Seattle closes out the 2024 regular season on the road against the Bears week 17 and the Rams week 18.
