Fullerton College Shares Exciting Milestones at 2024 State of the College Presentation

Fullerton College recently shared exciting milestones at the North Orange County Community College District’s (NOCCCD) Board of Trustees’ meeting on April 24. Dr. Cynthia Olivo, president of Fullerton College, presented the “State of the College,” titled “Once a Hornet, Always a Hornet” and its Spanish sentiment, “Siempre Fullerton College”. The annual presentation highlighted a year of significant achievements across campus. From increased student enrollment to new staff appointments, Dr. Olivo shared an extensive list of wins throughout the 2023-24 academic year.

Increased Spring Enrollment

With declining enrollment rates affecting most higher education institutions, Fullerton College has actively worked to reverse this trend through new enrollment strategies. A strategic enrollment management committee has unified admissions and records, communications, counseling and outreach to streamline the process for enrollment marketing. Direct outreach by the call center, emails and text messages, in addition to targeted social media campaign, helped Fullerton College experience a 6.5% increase in student enrollment for the spring 2024 semester*.

Academics on the Rise

Fullerton College’s academic programs continue to grow and meet the growing demands of students and the evolving workforce. In collaboration with faculty, Fullerton College is opening a brand new crime scene investigation lab, cybersecurity programming and an emerging technologies lab for students to investigate uses for artificial intelligence and machine learning. Additionally, a new Ethnic Studies Teachers Certificate will allow faculty to help train high school teachers in ethnic studies – a new requirement for secondary education.
