My wife, 2 girls (ages 8 & 11) and I stayed here the weekend of January 17th. Team members we came in contact with throughout the hotel were amazing. Just to mention a few:
• Joseph @ the front desk
-> my 11 year old and I went down to have our keys reprogrammed. Joseph was empathetic to us for having to come down and engaged in conversation while providing us with new keys. My oldest daughter thought Joseph was super nice (which he was)!
• Raffael @ the R Lounge
-> over the course of our 3 night stay, we visited the bar after each day of exploring. Between wine suggestions, knowledge of local brews, Raffael was super attentive in ensuring the old fashioned he made was top notch & delicious. The last day we were there, we bought some “sweets” at a local bakery and took them back to the hotel to enjoy. Raffael brought the girls some milk to enjoy with their cookies and cupcakes. So thoughtful; girls were delighted!
• Wadud @ the R Lounge
-> our last night at the hotel, we ordered some snacks in the lounge. Tables are not that large, however Wadud was efficient with our order, delivery of items, ensuring our drinks were always full and clearing plates when we were finished to make room on the tables. The attention to detail was superb!

Although we never saw our housekeeper, the room was clean and always impeccable when we returned from exploring the city. Thanks to all of the team for making the hotel stay of my girls first trip to NYC memorable!

Just returned from 3 nights at the Renaissance. I'm a frequent traveler to NYC. Prior to the pandemic I was visiting 6 or 7 times a year. I usually stay at a hotel few blocks down 48th but it has not yet opened back up so I chose the Renaissance based on location. I found things I liked and things that really bothered me about the hotel. First what I liked. The location was great, 2 subway stations within 2 blocks and a short walk to the 42nd st station where you can get a train to almost anywhere. The only downside to the location was that even though I was on the 19th floor it was very noisy as the hotel is in the midst of Times Square. The employees I encountered were all very friendly and accommodating. I liked the fact that the Bonvoy app on my phone told me when my room was ready for check in (it was available early which was great because i had an early flight in) and I was able to use it as a key to my room.
Now the things I didn't care for so much. The whole vibe of the hotel was very dark. Dark elevators, the decor of the rooms was very dark with gray walls and the lighting in rooms was dark. The only overhead light was in the entrance to the room. In the room itself were light fixtures that did not give off much light, maybe this wouldn't bother some people but it really bothered me, so much so that I would probably not stay here again because I did not enjoy this at all. The bathroom was much brighter and I thought the mirror was very cool with the skyline of the city on it. The restaurants were not open but I understand the reason for this and there are enough places to get food in the area so this was not a big deal. I found it odd that there was no pen and pad in the room. Once again this is not a big deal but I am used to having this amenity in a hotel, luckily I had a scratch pad and pen with me but it just seemed odd that a hotel of this caliber did not provide this. The thing that bothered me most, although luckily it wasn't an issue due to the help of the front desk clerk, was the fact that at this time they are not holding luggage. I guess I understand why they are not during this time but I am very surprised I did not find out they were not doing this until I came down the day I was checking out to ask where to bring my luggage as I would not be departing the city until late in the afternoon and check out time was noon. I have never stayed in a hotel that does not check luggage and if they are not doing so I believe they should have communicated that. As I said the front desk took care of the situation and was kind enough to allow me to have a late check out and leave my luggage in my room. If he had not done this I don't know what I would have done. I had plans for the day before leaving the city and bringing my luggage with me wasn't a possibility. Lack of communication of this policy was the problem. Had I known in advance I probably would have looked at other choices of hotels that allowed for this. All in all I had a good stay but was not comfortable in the room as it was too dark for me.

This Amazing Hotel located In Times Square is steps away from Fine Dining, Shopping, Romance A Wonderful Opportunity to visit the Theatre. View Art, Attend Concerts, Dance, Dine, Meet Lovely People And Celebrating Life.

My husband our Gorgeous Siberian Husky and I were warmly welcomed and offered a More Spacious Room to Accommodate our Service Dog. Room is located on a higher level with Spectacular Views. A Request made for a late checkout after our stay for a week was granted at no extra cost to us. A Generous Caring Lady. Thank You precious Lady. We were ecstatic.

Grateful and Feeling Pampered and Enthusiastic to travel out, we called security for help as our room key had not been activated as yet. He stepped forward immediately. Escorting us to our room via elevator He made us knowledgeable about the use of the key card for use throughout hotel including entry into our Room. After assuring us of safety and with the knowledge that we were, He Thanked us for our Choice of the Renaissance Hotel .Wished us a Magnificent stay. A kind, Thoughtful Gentleman. Thank You Sir.

The Most Beautiful Heartwarming Time in my Heart Came The Moment Lady Maria Sanchez from Housekeeping walked into our Room. An Energetic, vibrant Marvelous Employee Special Employee who not only Transformed our Room in Elegance , Cleanliness, Ambiance, Harmony. She stopped Tireless Detailed cleaning to Genuinely Apologize to Co Worker (having Accidentally brushed shoulder against him) who had stepped into room to remove linen from floor. He accepted Apology and said said it was Fine. I saw a United Team Who wore their Closeness in Working Together. Showing Mutual respect for each other and Exuding this to me and Every Hotel Guest around them. Having watch Maria Change my Comforter,
Covers, pillowcases, linens So Professionally I learned how to Dress a Bed Properly.

Our Room is now in Pristine Shape. Maria asks me to view the Bathroom which is Sparklingly Bright and Polished. She asks if there is anything She may remove or add
To make it more Comfortable for our family and Siberian Husky. My Heart Danced.

Maria SanchezYou Stole my Heart The moment you graciously walked into the Room because You Work Loving What You Do. not just working because you have to. You Care About, Care For, Have A Deep Loving Concern and Understanding of the Needs of the Hotel Guests . Because of Maria Sanchez Elevating our Hearts with Unbelievable Warmth, Understanding, Gentleness and Love Our Family Will Surely Be Sharing Many More Loving Hopeful Times Meeting Many More Beautiful Charming People Who Also Loved Their Stay at the Remarkable Grand Renaissance Hotel

Excellent location. Right in the heart of Times Square- which can be a problem with the noise. We were lucky enough to get a room on the higher floors and hence noise was not an issue.
We had a king size bed. Room was quite large by NY standards.
Breakfast was not included but then you can use your $30 voucher- this will cover only one breakfast. Your partner has to pay and the hotel has the stupid rule of not being able to accumulate your vouchers over successive days.. sounds like a money making racket to me.
Showers are good.
There is a coffee maker in the rooms but no spoons.
The gym was good but then Central Park is 900 m down 7th Avenue.
Nice touch having fresh apple daily.

Stayed on the 25th floor and I slept great! I heard no noise how some complain about and the curtains covered the bright screen lights great. The concierge was very helpful in the lobby level and answered questions regarding the area. Breakfast was great with real eggs and bacon!

This is the third and probably last time we have stayed at this particular Marriott property in the last 8 yrs when visiting New York. We love the location but this trip left a lot to be desired. While the staff was very friendly the attention to the condition of the rooms is lacking. Does anyone ever check besides housekeeping coming in to refresh a room?

We stayed 5 nights and out of those nights 4 times our room card didn’t work either at the elevator to access our room or to get into the room. It is a real pain to then have to take an elevator down to the lobby and then another down to the front desk on street level. It is also listed in our profile to be away from elevators and vending and yet they put us next to noisy housekeeping room. They were in and out of that room early in the morning slamming the door each time. There was also no do not disturb sign on the inside of the door. I asked 3 times for one and they said they would bring it but never did. On three mornings we had knocks on the door from housekeeping waking us up.

Finally, you have a bar and restaurant and it’s not open past 10 pm most nights. You are a large full service hotel but when one wants to come back to the hotel for a late night snack or beverage you are closed way past when shows let out.

The hotel is not what it use to be and I think it’s time to look for a different Marriott property that is more focused on the guest. Despite the great location and previous stays, something has changed with this property.

Stayed over new year period. Room was average,(slightly tired) however, price wasn't! Whilst I expected and appreciated that we would be paying an increased price for the new year break, I actually think the room was extremely overpriced. Whilst the location was good, it was actually a hinderance on new year eve's trying to battle the crowds again to get in and out of the hotel due to the ball drop. In hindsight I should have thought about this before booking the hotel. Postive note was that whilst we could not actually see the bands playing in time square we could hear them from the hotel room. Breakfast choice was good and bar / lounge area nice and comfortable. Overall, comfortable stay and staff helpful and friendly.

Dear Xenon2019, Thank you for taking the time to post a review of your time with us. Although we are happy knowing you thoroughly enjoyed our service, breakfast options, comfortable common areas and location, we were disappointed to read our accommodations did not provide the value you were hoping for. As in every city, certain times of the year, such as New Year's Eve and Day are busier and command higher rates, however, we definitely make an effort to be priced competitively. It was a pleasure to have you as our guest. We hope to have the pleasure of doing so again. Monet Cockburn Operations Manager

My wife and I stayed here for a three day weekend along with family in other rooms. The location just off Times Square is certainly convenient and the price was right given that we were paying the tab for the rest of the family. The front desk was friendly and helpful and housekeeping was done well, however, I’m not sure we would stay here again for several reasons.

First, there is no valet parking. In midtown Manhattan that’s a real problem, especially when their preferred (and discounted) parking is 3 blocks away. Second, the rooms lacked certain essentials one generally finds in hotel rooms such as a pad of paper and pen by the phone and adequate drawer space for stays of several days. Finally, the hotel’s bar closes at 10:00 PM. Really? Ever hear of after dinner/after theater drinks? Lots of people don’t want to hit Times Square bars at that hour.

All in all, the hotel met the minimum requirements for taking the family to NYC but, in the future I’d probably look to book a better alternative.

Our family of 4 stayed here recently during a quick trip to the city. You can't beat the location- directly in Times Square. The hotel had a very hip vibe, with cool decor and a restaurant/bar that overlooked Times Square. Unfortunately, it was closed due to COVID, but we hope to return at a later date to experience that. Our room was very nice, with modern decor. The bathroom was extremely clean with a modern design and Aveda toiletry products (my favorite). They do not have parking, but we were given directions to a parking garage that offered discounted parking. And although they were not able to hold our luggage when we checked out, they did allow us a late check-out time so that we could keep it safely in our room until we were ready to depart from our trip. Overall great experience.
