My review is somewhat of the vinyl as much as the record, it being a good near mint copy that I have but the pressing so poor as symptomatic of major labels of the time. Saying that the tendency towards electro-acoustic guitar is also ill fitting in resonance and tinniness for a high quality vinyl listening experience. I'm sure I'll find songwriting pleasures inside but at the moment it's a disappointing purchase as part of my vinyl second wave of 2016.

In spite of the name change, Luka Bloom is probably still best known as Christy Moore's little brother. _Riverside_ is his first album, and as opposed to his older brother's energetic take on traditional folk, the music here is closer to generic singer/songwriter fare. Bloom is certainly a decent enough songwriter and musician, displayed on tracks like "Delirious", "Rescue Mission" and "Gone To Pablo". However, his songs simply aren't distinctive or strong enough to stand out among the hordes of other artists playing in a similar style, and so while everything on _Riverside_ is competent, the album as a whole is fairly unspectacular. Fans of this type of music will find something to enjoy in this album, but it is by no means an essential purchase.

This is one fine disk. Mostly it's just Luka and his guitar, but the total sound (his great voice and the beautiful sound of his guitar) is very "rich".
I've seen him live twice (tivoli, utrecht). He just can entertain a whole audience with just his guitar(s). Amazing...
