Robert Bowes Obituary

Robert "Bob" Bowes, 63, of Francestown, N.H., and Port Charlotte, Florida, passed away suddenly, Saturday, April 6, 2024, six days before his 64th birthday. He had been humming the Beatles song "When I'm Sixty-Four" for months, singing, "Will you still need me, will you still please me, when I'm 64."

Bob was born to the late Shirley and Maurice Bowes in Marlborough, N.H. He grew up in Marlborough, N.H. He worked his entire career for Sanders Associates, through all the name changes to Lockheed Martin. Bob's career took him on many travels around the world and even on a seven-month stint on the Coral Sea aircraft carrier, as a civilian, during the war with Khadafi.

Bob loved the outdoors. He loved to hunt with buddies, but never shot a deer; he took his rifle for a walk. He loved boating and flyfishing. Like his license plate says," IFLYTIE." As many will attest, Bob was a great cook and threw a great party at Pleasant Pond, Francestown. Bob volunteered his whole life from camping with kids, to Model T Club, to amateur radio and Peterborough Sports Club. He did church pancake breakfasts and church suppers. There is not enough room to list his generous gifts of time. He gathered so many friends, and he loved you all.

Bob is survived by his wife, Bonnie Bowes; his son, Jason and his wife, Aimee. His brother, Kenneth and his wife, Marie, and their kids, Sarah and David; his father, Maurice Bowes; and brother-in-law, Robert Allen and wife, Pat.

He is predeceased by his son, Joshua Wilson.

Bob's funeral will be held at Church of Good Shepherd in Nashua, N.H., on Saturday, April 27, at 1 p.m. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Main Street. A reception will be held at the church afterward. Donations can be made at Christmas time to Salvation Army in honor of Bob, who thought donating loads of teddy bears was a great idea.

Bonnie and family, I am sorry for your loss. Bob was my friend, and I am glad to have known him. I remember the time we were clearing snow for a trap shoot. He was carrying a propane tank and slipped. I saw him go down. I got out of my truck and ran over to him. His finger was cut badly. I said " let's take a ride"!. Begrudgingly he said ok. It was a good thing we got him to the hospital quickly. You know the rest. He was at the club to help. That's the kind of guy he was. Proud to call him my friend. And, when Ken gave his comments, I could swear it was Bob talking. God bless. Neil Jeneraln.

Bonnie: Chantel and I were shocked to learn of Bob's passing. We are so sorry for your loss. Please know we are thinking of you and, your family during this difficult time. Bob was always so helpful, and kind to our son Evan. I will miss the talks we had at our docks, as we did our best to keep our boats afloat on the pond.

Yours respectfully,

Joe and Chantel Kelley
