Synopsis
A western, inspired by the likes of Tarantino and Leone, set in the 1920s in the borderland between Poland and the USSR: Twin brothers plan to rob a rival Mafia style family, an instance of female empowerment in that it is run by sisters.

Someday Poland will make great genre films, but not yet. At least we're finally trying.
There are quite a few things to like about Magnesium. Technical aspects are good-to-great, with the cinematography being the standout - the film has several really fantastic, eye-catching shots. The script is passable, with an abundance of plot lines, some better than others. I think it would benefit from a more focused approach. The action is mostly standard western stuff and there's not much of it, although there's a surprisingly great fight scene involving Siamese twins. While the idea of making a western set at the frontier between Poland and the Soviet Union during the interwar period is interesting, Magnezja struggles to find its tone between comedy, drama and action. The prevalence of the former diminishes the involvement in the story, while the historical context seems underused.

Można narzekać na wielki kaliber dowcipu o chłopie przebranym za babę, czy na mnogość wątków, ale osobiście chyba najbardziej żałuję niewykorzystania motywu pogranicza: sowieci są tu po prostu którąś stroną mafijnych porachunków, równie dobrze mogliby być po prostu inną polską rodziną, a wykorzystać to można było setnie dla jakiegoś komentarza społecznego czy coś... Ale prawda, mogło to też wyniknąć z ww liczby wątków

W tym filmie był taki ogromny potencjał, ale niestety fatalny humor, bardzo słaby i chaotyczny scenariusz wraz z kiepską strona wizualną i tragicznym aktorstwem (szczególnie Ostaszewska) skutecznie sprawiają, że go nie wykorzystuje. Zawiodłem się strasznie, bo Freestyle był naprawdę przyjemny + naprawdę lubię sprawdzać polskie kino gatunkowe

Był ogromny potencjał, bo Bochniak to twórca z talentem, ale dostałem bałagan zarówno fabularny jak i stylistyczny. Kompletnie gubi się, bo nie wie czego chce.
