Transferring to Stillwater High School was a big change, however, transitioning went smooth and teachers were very welcoming and electives such as the arts was a great way for me to connect with friends and make new friends. These teachers were the most welcoming since I would be playing in their program for the next few years. Overall the experience at Stillwater is amazing with great counselor and faculty support and the efforts made in post secondary education from PSEO, CIS, Career Fairs, Pathways Program and more. The worst part about attending Stillwater would be the amount of students using restrooms as smoking rooms, the purpose of the restroom is to use the restroom, not smoke or exchange substances. Staff have been persistent but as a large school as that, not all areas can be monitored by staff on the daily, so its unfortunate when you walk in and theres kids vaping in all the stalls.
Teachers who are good and good at building relationships with students. Good music and arts and science classes. Only bad thing I would say is the bathrooms with students vaping in there.
Great arts programs available to students including choir, theatre, band, orchestra, and additional extracurriculars for students interested in the arts. There are also a lot of great college and career exploration activities for students such as Pathways day where students can learn about the workforce, army, or colleges by doing in person or virtual tours. My recommendation for how the school could improve would be making it easier for students to find mental health resources throughout the year. There are some posters in the hallways with QR codes that lead students to mental health services, but I feel the school could continue to do more. Overall, the staff creates an environment where students can explore a diverse range of interests and activities as well as letting students lead clubs on their own.
