Reviews
- Edited 17 days agoMy vinyl is flat, clean and dead silent, the mastering as already mentioned is excellent, the music is absolutely the best and very eclectic …u get blues, funk, gospel even a little country and some great guitar, this is more a Funkadelic album in sound than a Parliament, it has that raw garage psychedelic sound… such a great record and its great to have the singles and/or bonus tracks included , definitely a buy!
- Yeah, I have never had on OG, but this sounds about as good as a recording by an emerging group from that era can. Excellent mastering I would suspect, maybe even AAA? My pressing is excellent with no ticks, other disturbances or warps. A pretty amazing addition to my funk collection.
- Got my copy today. Sounds great despite both discs being slightly warped.
My copy has no runout matrix on side 1. Anyone else notice this? - Happy to report that - after comparing it to my OG copy- this reissue sounds better. More volume, more overall oomph, plenty of high frequency energy.
Impeccable pressing. - Given some of the reviews, I feel fortunate that my copy is flat and defect-free. This is a fine reissue and worth grabbing.
However, I note that the Demon Records reissue of the original album is pretty widely available. If you missed out on the RSD release and don’t care about the bonus materials (personally I think it’s worth it just for Breakdown, but your mileage may vary), you don’t have to pay the flippers - Above-average, quiet pressing of Parlaiment's first album. It's a crazy eclectic album that has been extremely hard to find. This RSD version is on green vinyl and includes a side and a half of worthy bonus tracks. I am glad to own this. If you'd rather not spend $300+ on a decent first pressing, this is a no-brainer.
- Looks like I was not as lucky as others. Side two has a pressing defect that causes a loud pop for about 10 seconds of "my automobile". Also a slight lip warp, though it's still playable. Quality control issues with RSD stock. Twas ever thus.
- Giving it first listen. Silent and sounds very good.
It also looks great, however, would have liked poly lined sleeves. - Very quiet pressing of a Soul classic. You get to hear early Parliament when they were still finding their voice for Funk. The extra content makes this one well worth picking up.
