Justin Timberlake Says NSYNC Is Working On New Music

Following

In 2023, longtime fans of NSYNC earned a treat for their ongoing love of the boy band: a new single. The group reunited for a one-off hit later last year titled “Better Place.” Months after that track arrived, it seems that the reunion isn’t over just yet.

Justin Timberlake appeared on a recent episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show to promote his latest solo release, “Selfish.” As he chatted with the daytime host about his new chapter, the singer admitted that he and his former bandmates–or maybe the word “former” no longer applies–have been busy working on more music.

“We’ve been in the studio,” Timberlake stated, which elicited cautious applause from the crowd at the show. While he didn’t elaborate much further in terms of how many songs they’ve worked on or when fans may get to hear something more from the act, the Grammy winner teased that “there may be a little something in the future.”

The superstar broached the subject of the boy band that made him a star by at first explaining that he loves being in the studio, even calling himself a “studio rat.” Timberlake then segued smoothly into the NSYNC discussion by saying, “And also, as it pertains to harmonies… I spent some time with four other guys doing a lot of harmonies.” As the audience began to get excited, Clarkson egged him on, asking, “Who are you speaking of?”

Timberlake stated that when the five members of NSYNC got back together to make “Better Place,” it was just like old times. “That was fun,” he said with a smile after Clarkson told him that he and his bandmates “broke the internet” when they returned. Timberlake seemed to reminisce on the experience with fondness, as he also shared that “there’s so much that picks up right where it left off as far as chemistry.”

“Better Place” was recorded and released as the lead single from the latest film in the Trolls franchise. Timberlake has been a part of the animated series since the beginning. He’s been an instrumental figure in the music featured in each movie, even earning an Academy Award nomination for his Hot 100 No. 1 smash “Can’t Stop The Feeling!” from the first installment.

NSYNC’s comeback single was a quick hit for the band. “Better Place” peaked at No. 25 on the Hot 100, giving the five singers their first top 40 hit together in 20 years.
