  1. Post update

    That's all from me.

A tie that's very much in the balance.

    Here's Emlyn Begley's match report.

We're back tomorrow for the big Milan derby which kicks off at 20:00 BST. Here's the preview for that semi-final.

    See you then!

  2. 'Next week will be like a final'

FT: Real Madrid 1-1 Man City

    Real Madrid

Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois to BT Sport: "If you want to defend against Haaland, you don't give him the space to run. We tried to avoid that. We played well. As a consequence they shot more from distance. It pushed us deeper.

"A good draw and everything to play for next week. It will be like a final. We're quite good at winning finals. Hopefully we can mentalise it like that.

"City are a team who play with possession. With Haaland they play more direct. Sometimes in the Premier League Ederson shoots [kicks] really deep. We dropped down to not give them space.

"Sometimes we didn't control our game. They pressed well and you don't want to take too many risks at the back."

  3. The best of the stats

FT: Real Madrid 1-1 Man City

Man City are unbeaten in their last 21 games in all competitions (W17, D4), since a 1-0 loss at Tottenham in February. Three of their four draws in that run have come away from home in the Champions League.

Real Madrid have scored at least once in 67 of their last 68 home games in the Champions League.

Real have progressed from just two of their nine Champions League knockout stage ties when failing to win the first leg at home - both of these were against Manchester United (1999-00 and 2012-13).

  4. 'Vinicius was sensational'

FT: Real Madrid 1-1 Man City

    Semra Hunter

La Liga TV presenter on BBC Radio 5 Live

Vinicius Junior was sensational tonight. The one v one battle he was having with Kyle Walker was really interesting to see.

Even though we know what he is capable of, it's still incredibly difficult to stop him. He scored a fantastic goal and had some real moments of brilliance and looked really dangerous in front of goal.

He is a decisive player for Real Madrid. It's really exciting to think that he's so young and he obviously hasn't reached his full potential yet. It will be fascinating to see just how much better he can get.

  5. Friends

FT: Real Madrid 1-1 Man City

    Real Madrid v Man City

A good battle between Kyle Walker and Vinicius Junior tonight.

Pep Guardiola told BBC Radio 5 Live that Walker was "exceptional" tonight.

  6. 'Will Ancelotti stick with Rudiger?'

FT: Real Madrid 1-1 Man City

    Semra Hunter

La Liga TV presenter on BBC Radio 5 Live

It's really interesting to see what Carlo Ancelotti does with Eder Militao coming back from suspension. Is he going to stick with Antonio Rudiger or is he going to go back to his preferred partnership of Militao and Alaba?

Based on how Rudiger played tonight, honestly I would stick with him because it worked to perfection, Haaland hardy had a whiff of the goal. He hardly had a touch of the ball and didn't test Thibaut Courtois tonight. In that sense it would be a great option.

I imagine it will be more of the same from Real Madrid [at the Etihad]. They will have to play a bit of containment against Manchester City and they will have to take the rare opportunities whenever they get them.

  7. 'It's like a dream come true'

FT: Real Madrid 1-1 Man City

    Manchester City

Manchester City midfielder Jack Grealish speaking to BT Sport: "I loved it, man. You can have a few nerves but these are the nights you play football for and dream of.

"At a stadium and a game like this, it's like a dream come true."

On last year's semi defeat by Real: "We have a new team this year, different players. It's a year ago. We've learned so much since last year. We have the pefect balance of experience and world-class youngsters. I've never felt so confident going onto the pitch having the players around me.

"It's difficult. They let us have the first pass a few times and then had a high press. Playing against Carvajal, I can't count the amount of people who told me before you don't know what it's going to be like. Good battle, I really enjoyed it. I am tired. I've never had cramp before but I had it both calves.

"We've all seen games where they've conceded a few goals but tonight they defended really well. I thought we're only going to score from a shot on the edge of the box. When it fell to Kevin, it was unbelievable. We see it every day in training. You wouldn't choose anyone else for it to fall to.

"I think Brentford before the World Cup was the last time we drew a game at home. At the Etihad, we feel unstoppable there. We came here to try to win, but it shows our character to go a goal down in a place like this. In the end I think it was a fair result. They had their chances, we had a few.

    "I really enjoyed it.

"I had a text from my mum before the game saying these are the nights you dreamed of as a kid. Everyone in the world was watching. Sometimes you pinch yourself. I wasn't nervous one bit but you think 'this is the life, isn't it?'"

  8. Post update

Worth highlighting that Erling Haaland had just 21 touches, the fewest on the pitch.

Man City goalkeeper Ederson (19) made more passes than Haaland (13).

  9. 'Final at home with our people'

FT: Real Madrid 1-1 Man City

    Manchester City

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola speaking to BT Sport: " When we were better they score. When they were better we score. Tight, tight game. The Bernabeu in the semi-final, sometimes we had good moments and sometimes it was difficult with the quality they have on the ball. Final next Wednesday at home with our people.

"We started really well in second half as well and then after they got the game we could not take it. They play a lot of passes on the left and they are really good there but then we score a fantastic goal through Kevin [De Bruyne] and had good moments and then at the end they had a few good chances.

"They are so demanding, with the experience and quality. We are travelling to Manchester and we will see what we can do better.

"When you play this kind of game it is like a play-off, so hopefully we can learn, defend better and attack better."

On Erling Haaland's performance: "The pockets and distances between the central defender and full-backs was occupied. It was not easy for Erling. He moved well and had his chances."

  10. 'The tie is open'

FT: Real Madrid 1-1 Man City

    Real Madrid

Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric to Uefa: "At half-time we had things to correct. The manager wanted us on the ball more and for us to be more creative.

"That's why we freed Eduardo Camavinga to push into midfield more often - it went well. We merited a better result than this.

"But we'll enter the second leg with the same confidence and optimism that we can win over there.

"Neither team comes away from this with a big advantage. The tie is open, about 50-50 - and we were pretty sure that nothing would be settled tonight."

  11. 'Real Madrid wait for the moment to kill you'

FT: Real Madrid 1-1 Man City

    Semra Hunter

La Liga TV presenter on BBC Radio 5 Live

In the first half, it was only in moments where Man City took their eye off the ball that Real Madrid were able to pounce and take advantage of it. That's exactly what Real Madrid do, they wait for the moment to kill you and they do it.

Inversely, the same thing happened in the second half but the other way round.

It was a really fascinating game in terms of how tactically rich it was and how close it was. It was a game decided by the finest of margins in the end.

  12. 'Interesting that Guardiola didn't make substitutions'

FT: Real Madrid 1-1 Man City

    Neil Lennon

Former Celtic midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

I think Pep Guardiola will be delighted with the result and the performance. Everyone expects City to win these games 2-0 and 3-0 but it's just not reality because they are playing against a top top team.

Their defensive record away from home is pretty good. It was interesting that Guardiola stuck with the starting 11 for the whole game and made no substitutions.

  13. Post update

"When we were better they score, when they were better we score."

A good summary from Pep Guardiola! He's chatting to BT Sport now.

  14. 'De Bruyne is a massive player for us'

FT: Real Madrid 1-1 Man City

    Manchester City

Manchester City midfielder Rodri speaking to BT Sport: "It is very tough when you come here. I think the lads were incredible. The effort was there. Sometimes it is difficult against this team because they have a lot of quality.

"In the first 25-30 minutes we controlled the game and then first chance they have, they score an incredible goal. But we kept in the game even though it was difficult to get in with the way they defend. Kevin [De Bruyne] found the goal and then in the last minutes we tried to keep the ball.

"Lots of concentration is needed because when you lose the ball it is tough to regain it because they have a lot of quality and they have fast players up front.

"He [Kevin de Bruyne] is a massive player for us. Always he has been great and he helped us in the moment we most needed it. We were suffering a bit because they were keeping the ball and with the goal he gave us the confidence to keep pushing. It is a good result for us.

"We knew no matter what happened here it would not be the end. At home we will need the people to support us."

  15. 'We had good control'

FT: Real Madrid 1-1 Man City

    Real Madrid

Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti speaking to BT Sport: "An interesting game. Difficult for us in the first half and the second half was much better. We had good control in the game.

"When they had lots of possession we were in control defensively then when we started to play the ball we caused difficulties.

"We had to keep our positions defensively then when we got the opportunity, we scored the first goal."

On Vinicius Junior's goal: "Yeah a great strike, a fantastic moment. The team played well. I am satisfied."

On defensive performance and Antonio Rudiger keeping Erling Haaland quiet: "Defensively we were good. Rudiger against Haaland did well and the midfield had control. The performance was good and we are happy. We have strong motivation for the next game."

On why he got a yellow card: "I don't know why. I was not on the pitch. I think he could give a yellow card to the player not the manager."

  16. Post update

FT: Real Madrid 1-1 Man City

    .

Pep Guardiola didn't make a single substitution tonight.

It is the first time that's happened in a Champions League semi-final since Sir Alex Ferguson left an unchanged side out against Carlo Ancelotti's AC Milan in 2006-7.

  17. 'Madrid did a great job on Haaland'

FT: Real Madrid 1-1 Man City

    Neil Lennon

Former Celtic midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

Madrid did a great job on Erling Haaland tonight, he was pretty quiet and didn't get a lot of service. The Madrid front three are always dangerous. Man City's midfield particularly in the first half dominated the game.

It ebbed and flowed and you just couldn't take your eyes off it to see which way the game was going to go.

  18. What are the odds for success?

FT: Real Madrid 1-1 Man City

Based on City's previous European two-legged knockout ties, starting with a 1-1 away draw in the first leg saw them progress to the next round on both occasions.

Based on all Real Madrid's previous European two-legged knockout ties, starting with a 1-1 home draw in the first leg saw them being eliminated in five of the previous six occasions.

  19. 'You would have taken 1-1'

FT: Real Madrid 1-1 Man City

    Joleon Lescott

Former Man City defender on BT Sport

You come here with optimism that you're going to win. You would have taken 1-1 but over the course of the tie you'd expect Manchester City to score a few more goals and go through.

  20. 'Man City could have come away with a better result'

FT: Real Madrid 1-1 Man City

    Chris Waddle

Ex-England winger on BBC Radio 5 Live

It's a positive result for Man City. But is it a great result? Will Real Madrid enjoy going to the Etihad with nothing to lose?

Man City have controlled large parts of this game. I think they could have been a little bit more positive in the final third and I think they could have come away with a better result than this.

Real Madrid know how to manage games and you've got to say some of their football was great on the eye at times.
