Is payback ltd legit?is it a scam??

Is this a scam?

Does anyone know other than payback Ltd so I can get my crypto refund. Payback Ltd said they have found my funds. They have put the money on appwallet.net. I’m trying to withdraw the money but they saying “To facilitate the withdrawal process and ensure compliance with Anti-Money Laundering (AML) regulations, we kindly request that you maintain liquidity in your Crypto.com account. As part of this standard procedure, we ask for a deposit equivalent to 10% of the withdrawal amount, which amounts to 10,891.23 $. This step is essential to enhance the security and legitimacy of your transaction.

Once the deposit is successfully made to your Kucoin account, you'll have the green light to withdraw. we must inform you that your request has been declined due to the absence of the required 10% deposit to your (ETH) Appwallet. This measure is imperative in accordance with our security and compliance guidelines, ensuring the integrity of your transaction.

To proceed with the withdrawal successfully, we now require you to make the necessary deposit, equivalent to 10% of the requested withdrawal amount. Pls I need help to recover my money. I have heard that payback LTD is a scam company .

There is no such thing as "your crypto refund". If you fell for a crypto scam and are trying to get your money back, you are making yourself extremely vulnerable to !refund scammers like the ones you are in contact with.

There is no withdrawal. You don't need money in an account just to be able to put more money in, and money-laundering rules are about proving where your money comes from, not about already having some.

If you pay the 10,000, they will have more reasons why you need to pay even more. You won't ever get that "refund".

u/AutoModerator avatar

AutoModerator has been summoned to explain the refund scam. Refund scams usually start with a spam email about a fake transaction, although they can also be sent through SMS or any other messaging service. The message will provide you with a phone number to call if you want to cancel the transaction, and if you call the scammers will try to get you to provide credit card or banking information in order to receive your refund. Scammers have been taking advantage of Paypal's invoice system to send out realistic scam emails through Paypal itself, here is a news article about that technique: https://krebsonsecurity.com/2022/08/paypal-phishing-scam-uses-invoices-sent-via-paypal/. Here is a Snopes article regarding the Norton variant of this scam: https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/norton-email-renewal-scam/.

Posts like this make me want to cry for humanity.

EVERY recovery 'firm' is a scam.

If a crypto platform could be hacked so easily, it would pretty instantly become worthless. Bitcoin and others are used daily because it's secure and cannot be reversed.

I'm sorry for your loss, but don't throw good money after bad. No-one will recover your stolen funds except maybe, occasionally a government agency if it's a big enough case.

Edit to add: Even government agencies can't hack Crypto, they just force the criminals to hand over passwords in exchange for a lighter sentence.

u/Regular_Remove8126 avatar

seems to be true. they just want to make money out of desperate victims. that's really sad

true! I still placed hope on these firms until I realized that one disadvantage of crypto is it is untrackable and once its stolen, it's gone forever. To be honest switching real money for crypto and use it as a way to store wealth isnt a good idea, it's better to join the waves of crypto ups and downs and make extra from it

As others have mentioned, this is a !recovery scam. Anyone who says they can, or they know a company that can hack funds is also a scammer. Never trade crypto with strangers you met online. If you’ve already sent money the recovery scammers, then cut your losses, block, and try your best to move on. If you haven’t, then block, and cut your losses from the crypto scam. You will be targeted by more and more recovery scammers if you keep trying to chase the crypto down

u/AutoModerator avatar

AutoModerator has been summoned to explain recovery scams. Also known as refund scams, these scams target people who have already fallen for a scam. The scammer may contact you, or may advertise their services online. They will usually either offer to help you recover your funds, or will tell you that your funds have already been recovered and they will help you access them. In cases where they say they will help you recover your funds, they usually call themselves either "recovery agents" or hackers. When they tell you that your funds have already been recovered, they may impersonate a law enforcement, a government official, a lawyer, or anyone else along those lines. Recovery scams are simply advance-fee scams that are specifically targeted at scam victims. When a victim pays a recovery scammer, the scammer will keep stringing them along while asking for increasingly absurd fees/expenses/deposits/insurance/whatever until the victim stops paying. If you have been scammed in the past, make sure you are aware of recovery scams so that you are not scammed a second time. If you are currently engaging with a recovery scammer, you should block them and be very wary of random contact for some time. It's normal for posters on this subreddit to be contacted by recovery scammers after posting, and they often ask you to delete your post so that you both cannot receive legitimate advice, and cannot be targeted by other recovery scammers.

It’s def a scam and any money u gave them is now gone for good

Scammers seem to be pretending to be associated with PayBack or, misrepresenting themselves as such. Legitimate companies would never require an upfront fee for withdrawals. Excuses about AML compliance are completely false and misleading. This is just a bad play to take more money from victims who already lost money. While I can't make any claims about PayBack Ltd, these impersonators are clearly running a scam unrelated to any real services Payback may or may not provide. I would caution everyone to be diligent and do their research before any investment or movement of the funds online, I suggest you do the same about real Payback since I saw while checking out their page that they issued a warning against their impersonators. I want to state clearly that I'm not promoting any recovery services or help in recovering crypto.

Edited

appwallet.net was registered as a new internet domain on August 2nd of this year. So... that's a scam.

As others have said, there's no way to get your lost crypto back.

The bigger questions are in understanding if the crypto you lost was actually legitimate in the first place or just another scam.

How did you come to acquire and then lose what sounds like a significant amount?

u/Imagination133 avatar

I went to the discord server and that’s where I was scam. And I notice it that it would never come back. But still I was pissed that my money was gone. So I search about crypto scam refund and contact payback Ltd. Right now I haven’t paid any penny to payback Ltd. I’m just asking if some person had a connection to payback Ltd I want to ask if it’s real or not. Any experience? Did someone get there money back ? And how did the process go?

I was asking what coins and assets you lost and where did you buy them from? If you bought your coins from a well known site like Coinbase, Binance, or crypto.com and your wallet got hacked, that would be one thing.

But if you were introduced to crypto investing from a stranger online and sent your fiat money to a sketchy website, then the crypto didn't even exist in the first place. It's just a fake website showing fake returns designed to make you feel rich and entice you to invest more. And that's the realization a lot of people have a hard time coming to. And since it's all pretend assets, then the recovery is even more impossible.

Which one was it?

Has anyone heard of Bitcoin soft AI 360

PayBack Ltd is a scam, forget about your loss.

u/PublicOld866 avatar

t’s an absolute scam. I contacted them but due to bad reviews I didn’t go through and decided to pull out just before I paid the fees. They have my email and contact details. Now I have started getting scam calls from the British government to say that they have recovered my money and have collected compensation on top of what I lost hahaha.  They prey on the vulnerable. Don’t lose more money. Just accept your bad situation and walk away. There is nothing else you can do

u/Good-Contact5302 avatar

They are legitimate scammers if that makes any sense. They will make you sign a contract to legalize their scam as much as possible. I successfully sued them for writing up complaint letters with no legal effect that amounts to a threat against my third party banks to get them to cover for my losses in an investment scam.

You can find a copy of the court order against them to pay me compensation on the review website, sitejabber, just look up payback in the search engine.

It's a scam please please tell me you haven't paid the 10% down payment? I've been scammed they find out who has been scammed and then suggest you can get your funds back. It's an Israeli based company just to make you aware and I think that says it all. DO NOT GO THROUGH THE SYSTEM. I just got an email saying my refund is available and that I have to get it through a crypto wallet!

u/Alone_Eggplant7459 avatar

It is extremely helpful to read such opinions and sadly losses. I just contacted by them for the same issue of getting scammed and I literally told the caller that I don't mind doubling his fees but I can pay only after recovering my lost money because I can't afford increasing my loss by paying him too.

I was scammed by PayBack-LTD. They charged me US$1000. I gave them tons of evidence and the did nothing. Perhaps we could start a class action lawsuit. I should have never payed them upfront.

You need to talk to a lawyer, and review the contract you entered with them.

Coming here wishing someone talks to a lawyer to begin a class action lawsuit without having consulted one in the first place, is like screaming into the wind.

Hi, think same company might be scamming me, they said I’ve made money from previous crypto investment last year that has been accruing all this time, they reckon they just want to refund me minus 6% commission and already have my bank details, they said I have to open a crypto wallet 1st. They said they are Payback Ltd, but that company website say they don’t pursue, and that their clients commission them.

u/Regular_Remove8126 avatar

Payback-LTD asks $3000 upfront now. you are lucky 1 month ago you paid $1000

u/Grouchy_Ad_2732 avatar

You will not get any thing back from them. Trust me I have paid them and nothing happened other than they keep asking for more money.

Has anyone heard of, or used, Special Hackers HK service? They say they can recover my funds. At first they wanted an upfront payment to, they say, purchase the hacking software but I refused to pay. Then they said they would do it for 22% of the recovered funds. They say they must cover their tracks so the scammers can't trace where it's gone by transferring it to new wallets before returning it to my Binance wallet. Any comments?

Yes it is a scam. AML doesn't require any payments. And the money should never be paid in cryptos.

payback-ltd seems like a scam, I also had contact with them. they seemed serious. they even sent a contract. Where it was stated that I should pay 2000 EUR upfront as a retainer fee and 10% success fee. I negotiated to pay 1500 EUR retainer, but they said my case was good and that I had good chances of getting the money back. To avoid getting scammed twice, I said or actually wrote, How about 20% success fee? they said no despite being 2500 more than the total amount otherwise. So I said 30% success fee. Still no.

I concluded that how can it be a good case if they won't accept 7000 more euros in total?

So I suspect that they simply take the retainer and say, oh we are sorry, didn't go as we hoped. And there you go.

My tip is to ask them un expected questions, like, where they are from. when they answer, ask them what weather they have there. You will immedietely hear that awkward paus when they try to lie something together. And most of they do. I've had scammers saying the were born and raised in Poland and don1t speak a word in Polish. Or a person with a thick african accent claims he is from the Netherlands, and don't speak dutch. or doesn't know how to pronouns Gouda.

u/Difficult-Menu-2906 avatar

I lost 70 000AUD to a company called Noble Finance. In desperation I contacted Payback to get help. I was then scammed a second time to the tune of 7000AUD. 10% of my initial scam. These people are SCUM of the world who prey on the vulnerable and desperate. Please everybody, don't use their services and it is 100% a SCAM!

You're on your way to getting scammed again. No one, like everyone is saying, no one can help you get your money back. All of these "fund recovery agencies" are fake, and you will only get scammed again. Please listen to the advice here and understand that while it's extremely upsetting and frustrating to lose your money and I understand why you are trying to get it back, if you proceed you will only lose more. Block these people, ignore, and know that every single other person who reaches out to you saying they can get your money back is lying. You will probably get DMs on reddit because of this post, recovery scammers lurk here. Ignore them. Block.

Nothing at all - Crypto by design is not recoverable. Any company claiming to do recovery is just more scammers.

They rely on the fact you are desperate and want to belive.

I'm starting the process of trying to get my $$ back and just spoke with Payback Ltd. They don't take payments in crypto and they don't make deposits to your wallet. They also do not go after the scammers themselves. They go after your exchange and 3rd party crypto wallet verification entities to get your money back. They claimed that there are a lot of shady characters impersonating them. My two cents...as that's about all I have left
