Kriti Sanon ‘elated, overwhelmed, grateful’ as she wins National Film Award for Best Actress; congratulates Alia Bhatt

Kriti Sanon also thanked the film’s producer Dinesh Vijan and director Laxman Utekar. She wrote, “Dinoo, I can’t thank you enough for believing in me and my potential, for standing by me always and for giving me a film I’ll treasure all my life! Laxman sir.. You always told me ‘Mimi, dekhna aapko is film ke liye National Award milega ( You’ll win for your performance in Mimi)’ .. Mil gaya sir (I got it, sir)! And I couldn’t have done this without you.”

The actor didn’t miss to thank her family for supporting her dreams and aspirations. “Mom, Dad, Nups (Nupur Sanon).. You guys are my lifeline! Thank you for always being my constant cheerleaders..”

Kriti then congratulated Alia Bhatt who won the Best Actress award along with her. “Congratulations Aliaaaa! So so well deserved! I’ve always admired your work and I’m too excited that I get to share this huge moment with you! Yayyyiiee!! Biggg hug! Lets Celebrate!!,” wrote the Mimi actor.

Kriti Sanon’s Mimi co-star Pankaj Tripathi, meanwhile, won the National Award for Best Supporting Actor. On his win, Sanon shared, “Congratulations to my favvvvv (sic) @pankajtripathi sir!! Your father would be so so proud…”

On his win, Pankaj said in a statement, “This is unfortunately a period of loss and grieving for me. If Babuji was around, he would have been really happy for me. When I first got the National award mention, he was very proud and pleased. This National Award I dedicate to him and his spirit. I’m who I’m today because of him. I’m in loss of words due to this time but I’m happy and grateful to the team. Kriti also has won the Best Actress, so a huge congratulations to her.”

In the film Mimi, Sanon plays the role of a woman who opts to be a surrogate mother and her performance was appreciated by critics and fans alike.
