Students here are great! Everyone has their own strengths and they inspire you to do better. Personally, I think that this is a wonderful highschool environment.
HHS needs a lot of improvement. Let's start with bullying. If you're bullied in HHS, its most likely because you're not rich, as well as not being the "popular kid." I personally I'm not rich or the popular kid so I get bullied quite a lot. However, HHS doesn't really respond to bullying acts. They usually only respond to bullying acts if it's life threatening. And if they do, they most likely going to only give them ISS (In School Suspension) for like 2 days. Im personally going to be doing online or hybrid soon just because of how poor the structure for consquences is put together here. And not just bullying. The vape detecter go off several times in the bathrooms, as well as school fights. And HHS being HHS, they don't do anything about it. But all bad things aside, the teachers are very helpful as well as resourceful (some). So my overall statement here is if your child has history of bullying, do not go to HHS unless you can handle bullying, and are only here for the education.
While I was there, COVID struck, and during the process the administration changed. The new principal is great, and she is clearly dedicated to making the school a better place. There are many different friend groups, and with a variety of clubs, it is usually not too difficult to find friends.
The mileage with teachers will vary. For AP subjects, the teachers are typically pretty good, though some are newer or simply not as good teachers as the recently retired teachers. For non-AP classes, there is a lot more variation, with some teachers being great, and others not being knowledgable in their subject(s). There is a relatively large of selection for AP classes, with many students taking 3-5 AP classes per year.
In terms of clubs, there are plenty, like robotics, LEAF club, Mini-thon, Envirothon, GSA, science olympiad, and more.
There are also some seniors that can serve on the school board, which in my opinion has had a positive effect since the school board is questionable.
