- Edited one month agoThis pressing sounds great. Likely a digital transfer indeed, but superior fidelity on a number of tracks. especially "THANK YOU." The gatefold might have been nice, but the printed inner insert with the same artwork as presented on the original gatefold inner is nice to have, and I appreciate when some releases are not bulked up in the shelf with a gatefold when there is only one disc. This press will boot my 70s copy.
- Quite simply one of the best hits collections ever assembled, this contains a dozen absolute bangers that sound as fresh today as they did the day they were released. This pressing boasts good sound, with solid low end, crisp percussion, punchy horns, and a lively, in-your-face soundstage. My copy plays nice and clean with light surface noise from time to time.
- Wish they hadn't mixed this so quiet, have to crank up volume and/or gain to even get any texture out of this pressing.
- For the money $22 US, it’s a decent sounding pressing. Flat and spins true. Low noise floor. I can’t help but conclude it’s sourced from a digital transfer. I have a copy from the 70’s and it’s much brighter with regard to the vocals and richer in the bass dept. One nice thing about this pressing is bassist Larry Grahams’ vocals are mixed to the front on the songs where he co-leads. Gatefold would have been a nice touch. Instead they have included a poster reflecting the original inner jacket photo of the band. A nice record…just kinda sounds like 320 mp3 to my ears.
- It sounds great. Flat and quiet vinyl. I would’ve paid extra if they provided a gatefold like the original pressing
- A fun compilation that will undoubtedly improve your mood! Some songs are rechanneled mono while others are in full stereo.

referencing Greatest Hits (LP, Compilation, Stereo) 69002
Side 1 has stamped 609002A and side 2 has stamped 69002B in gatefold cover. Different label than other 1970 UK press. This one does not EPC on right side of label. Very quiet vinyl with absolutely no noise. - Edited 6 months agoAlbum Revolution #3:
Of course I had to include "Sly & The Family Stone's Greatest Hits" in the Album Revolution...It would have been criminal not to include it...
Driving straight in the new decade of the '70's off the classics of "Dance to The Music", "Life", and "Stand!", it was smart to release this master of a "Greatest Hits" album....
Along with the fore mentioned songs, you also have the classics: "I Want To Take You Higher", "Everyday People" and "You Can Make It If You Try" (just to name a few), that helps the album flow very smoothly...
There are 3 new Ultimate Crown Jewels on here as well....
"Hot Fun In The Summertime", is a cool down joint, perfect for chillin' in the summer....
"Everybody Is A Star" (my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE), is another smooth joint, with the usual Vocal Interplay, with Lyrics that are just OUT OF THIS WORLD!!!!!
Then there's the "Ultimate Funk Workout" in "Thank You (Falettinme Be Mice Elf Agin)...Now this one right here is the "BOMB!!!!! No other song in the "Sly & The Family Stone" catalog had the emphasis on the Bass playing of one "Mr. Larry Graham"!!!!!...It dominates the record, and it should!!!!
After this, things would change very drastically for the group, not just Musically, but professionally as well.... - I remember ordering this exact version from Columbia House in 1990, so I'm surprised there isn't a "club edition." Should there be one or would this entry cover it?
