B – 1 – 4×4 – 1′ 11 1/2″

C – 1 – 4×4 – 1′ 4″ (45-degree angle cuts both ends opposite direction)

D – 1 – 1×6 – 8′ (cut to size)

Mailbox post plans - step 1.

Cut a 4×4 to 6′ 8″ long (A). Make a notch to the 4×4 as shown on illustration above.

Cut a 4×4 to 1′ 11 1/2″ long (B). Make a notch as shown on illustration above. Drill pilot holes and assemble with 3″ deck screws.

Cut a 4×4 to 1′ 4″ long, cut 45-degree angle cuts on both end in opposite directions (C). Drill pilot holes and assemble as shown on illustration above using 3″ deck screws.

Measure and cut a 1×6 to fit underneath the mailbox (D). Drill pilot holes and attach as shown on illustration above using 3″ deck screws.

  18. This looks great, but what about a mailbox post plan like this but also including a separate wood box below the metal mailbox for local newspaper deliveries (not allowed to be put in the US mailbox)?
