Brazenly and defiantly dumb, like Hot Rod’s idiot brother, but admirable for the give-no-fucks attitude approach to comedy on display. Sort of walks a fine line between Scary Movie-style parody film and Fletch investigational with wacky disguises, and becomes something of its own entirely. Understandably shunned upon release as a misguided Disney creation too raunchy for their brand, McKlusky would be comedy of the year up to now if released in 2022 (or maybe I was just in the mood for something that required the minimum amount of brainpower and rationality to enjoy)
I kind of split the difference between the grade this movie actually deserves (it's bad) and my personal enjoyment of it (it ruled). Just a truly offensive, completely un-PC, gleefully down-punching comedy that could never possibly be made today. Makes Blazing Saddles look like A Little Late with Lilly Singh. Not even offensive in a trying, in-your-face way but more like it came from legitimately stupid minds, people who genuinely believed in their hearts that this stuff was funny. I'm not saying I wish there still was still comedy like this being made now, more like I wish more awful stupid mean comedy DID get made during the Bush Jr era that could still be watched and enjoyed today.
Oh did I mention this was directed by a WOMAN? (honorary Bechdel passer, sexist to dislike)
Never forget that Dolly Parton and Randy Quaid were husband and wife in a movie made this century.
For my money it doesn't get any better than our hero hero worshipping Scott Baio as Charles from Charles In Charge continually asking himself in times of great stress "What would Charles do in this situation???" (for the record--the real Baio shows up and promptly gets pushed down the side of a mountain--point McKlusky???)

Disney dropping $18mil in 2002 to make a movie around the star power of the guy who played Officer Doofy in Scary Movie where his parents are played by Randy Quaid and Dolly Parton. Interesting choice. Also I have to mention the Mr.T shit is spit your drink out offensive and I don’t understand what the hell they were possibly thinking.

Well I've watched probably the worst exuse of a comedy I've ever sat through!
Watched only because I was looking at Dolly Parton's filmography, Frank McKlusky C.I. is pathetic from beginning to end.
It's worse than Jack and Jill! There I've said it! Jack and Jill at least got one laugh out of me from Al Pacino. This film gave me no laughs and I felt like I lost half by brain cells watching it!

I hope when Dave Sheridan had to be outfitted for the blackface Mr. T disguise he spent his lunch break that day crying into whatever craft services offered him
This is not a good movie, but it’s a weird guilty pleasure for me. The humor is stupid and offensive (you get fart jokes AND black face), and I almost feel bad for liking this movie as much as I do, but I laugh almost the whole movie. Andy Richter is hilarious. Chyna as a slutty office secretary is weird. Don’t watch this because I like it, I’m a sick man.
Really silly and also quite stupid. It's like a bad rip-off of a Jim Carrey movie, which actually makes it so bad it's good.
It was watchable... Dave Sheridan doing his best Jim Carrey impression throughout.
He uses alot of disguises in his detective work one of which is as MR. T in A-Team which is something that wouldn't go down very well if it was released these days, I'm sure it didn't go down all that well at the time either but today with the P.C. extremism going on the director would be banned from Hollywood I'm sure.
