The Muhlenberg student population engages in many hypocrisies where they try to care about diversity and inclusion but become defensive and have trouble trying to see from the perspectives of those who disagree with them. The school is not very diverse socioeconomically with most people coming from the middle to upper middle class. The student body is not cognizant of those from lower socioeconomic backgrounds or rural areas. The academics are thought-provoking and interesting. There is closer-knit community atmosphere with people you will recognize throughout campus. The theater program seems to overpower the school's interests I would not recommend if you are coming from a rural area. I have been slightly discriminated against by peers for being from a rural area, but the school is pretty accepting of LGBTQ+ people and people from many racial and religious backgrounds.
Muhlenberg College is a small but lovely undergraduate liberal arts college. The campus itself is a bit small, but that has always been a positive to me because I like the personable nature of the school. Also, everything is within walking distance, which makes commute to class/events pretty easy. The dining hall is ranked number one in PA, and very highly nationally as well, so the food is one of the major positives of the campus.
In terms academics, Muhlenberg has a very strong theater program, though they are well staffed in other fields as well, providing a plethora of different majors and minors to students. The professors are great and work really hard to foster an inclusive environment. They are always happy to meet with you outside of class, and the small class sizes allow you to build more personal relationships with peers and instructors, which is ultimately one of my favorite aspects of the school. Overall, I had a very positive experience here at Muhlenberg.

I really love how small Muhlenberg is. It's a tight knit community where people actually know people. I didn't want to be just another number of a statistic and Berg has not let that happen. One thing I would like to see change is more support towards all students of all backgrounds. This has improved a lot but I think it should continue to grow.
The professors are truly angels. I struggled my first year, but the professors were there to help me every step of the way. They truly wanted to see their students succeed. The students were nice. Everyone held the doors open for each other which made the campus feel very safe and gave it a home feeling.
please do not go to this college. I saw the bad reviews and ignored them but when I got there I was so depressed. I am genuinely a happy person and muhlenberg ruined that for me. People are so cliquey. If u are not on sports team or Greek life you are considered nothing. And the problem is you can’t join Greek life till sophomore year so many first years feel like nothing. People are so bad please beware. Kids seem nice at first but it’s a liberal act. Once you get to know them they are terrible. Listen, go to a different school. Any other school just not this one and you’ll be thanking me. I am still today traumatized by the school. I sat alone most days at that school in the cafe and nobody ever wanted to be friends w me. Now I transferred and I am so happy and met my true friends!
Muhlenberg is a fantastic college with great programs in theater/dance, pre med/health, and business too. It has something for everyone. Plenty of clubs and organizations for anyone to join. The campus a bit small but it has a wonderful tight knit community.
I love our dining hall and community. However, there is an intense prejudice towards those who do not play a sport...
Muhlenberg is a small school which allows you to get connected with professors and have one on one time. The food is really good and they are really supportive and kind here.
I have been having a wonderful time in the theatre program here at Muhlenberg. I have gotten to know so many nice and talented people and I have grown so much as a performer. I transferred here from another institution that wasn't a good fit for me. Being at Muhlenberg I feel much more happy and welcomed.
Overall, I really like the college; the people are amazingly sweet, the food is great, and the dorms are comfortable. The professors truly care about what they teach and love all of the students, and since the campus is small, each staff member is able to give their undivided attention to any students who need it. The main thing I would like to see changed is how the school treats different issues. For instance, since this school has a 30% Jewish population, and the recent events happened, they made it clear that they are supportive for all Jewish people on campus, which is amazing. However, there is still hostility around campus due to it, especially since the Israeli-Palastine issue is so prevalent. Regardless, campus security ensures that they are safe, but the fact that they can only get protection through campus security and not much otherwise is kind of concerning.
Muhlenberg was such a homey and safe place that really allowed me to grow as a person, experience college life to the fullest while still being a commuter, and nurtured different interests and parts of my personality. I loved it so much and miss it daily. My sister even goes there now and is a sophomore, because it is just that amazing. Please check this school out, you will be happy you did.
Overall, I think Muhlenberg college is a wonderful school with plenty of opportunity for students to pursue their dreams. Things I would like to see improvement on in the future is the pricing of tuition, & room & board. On-campus jobs and off-campus jobs do not provide nearly enough to afford room & board every semester, let alone tuition.
I think what sets Muhlenberg apart is how community oriented it is. You will most likely know everyone in your major, minor, and class year. The student body is one of the most supportive groups I’ve ever come across. Despite being incredibly shy I was very quickly connected to friends that will last me a lifetime, and professors who’s guidance I’ll always take with me.
Muhlenberg is a small private college in PA that offers students the opportunity to attend a more intimate setting for advanced knowledge. The only change I would like to see is offering online courses.
Muhlenberg has been an AWESOME place for me and my peers to thrive. There are so many different types of people and it makes talking to new people easier. By connecting with people of other cultures, ethnicities, and experiences you become more well-rounded. It's a welcoming community where you're bound to make friends with like-minded students. I would recommend visiting or checking out Muhlenberg College to see if it's the place for you!
Speaking from experience, the students here are the most sheltered, stuck up, whiny, and immature people I've ever met. No one here understands independence, and they just follow their friends and are spoon fed whatever the school tells them- there is truly no thinking outside of the box here or challenging of any ideas that go against the perceived "norm." Good luck coming here if you aren't a leftist or a theatre major. The student body is dramatic, cliquey, and close-minded, living in a bubble. There is an immense amount of privilege here, not just with socioeconomic status but also with ego, and it is really shocking. Again, profs are great for the most part but the administration is laughable and treated their students like prisoners during COVID (being forced to mask ALONE OUTSIDE, suspending people for hanging out with friends, etc). They instill fear into us constantly and everyone just buys into it like that. If you want a nurturing high school, come here but if not don't.
Academically they are fine, but the value is definitely not there. You will pay 2-3 times what you pay in a state college and receive less. I can't believe people agree to pay that much and get so little.
I attended Muhlenberg from 2006-2010 as a Theatre major at the peak of its popularity gain. I loved the general academic requirements and the range of class/subject types within them. It encouraged students to try different subjects but gave us much flexibility within those requirements to suit our interests. The true downside to Muhlenberg was the homogenous community. I believe it has gotten better since I attended, but I felt that Muhlenberg was a bubble of mostly white students from middle class New York and New Jersey. Demographic diversity is part of a young person’s education and it should be a priority for the college to encourage that. This includes the professors, who were also almost entirely white.
I have loved my experience at Muhlenberg so far. Everyone I have met as been very nice. You are able to get involved in a lot of things on campus and there is always things to do.
I like this college because every professor I met were super really kind for all students. I often go to the office hour and all professors help me so much every time. However, we should make more "diversity" especially, should be internationally.
