East Orange, New Jersey—this is where my journey truly began. As an immigrant from Jamaica, it was the place I got to call home when I first arrived in the United States. The warmth and hospitality of East Orange welcomed me with open arms, offering me not just a place to reside, but a community that has shaped my aspirations and fueled my dreams.
What struck me the most about East Orange was its palpable sense of community—a community that values diversity and celebrates the richness of different cultures.
While East Orange has undoubtedly provided me with countless opportunities there are areas where I believe it can improve. For instance, investing in infrastructure and community development projects could further enhance the quality of life for residents and attract more businesses to the area.
In conclusion, East Orange has provided me with a home, a sense of belonging, and the opportunity to pursue my dreams.

East Orange is a very urban area with access to the NJ Transit area and highways. However, that's where the good part ends. It is extremely dirty, and the majority of the residents are at fault for this. They do not own properties and only rent so they have no care for their neighborhood. There are constant break ins and robberies of cars. There are teenagers who cut school and terrorize some of the nicer apartment buildings on S Harrison Street. They break into the amenity spaces to vandalize. They break into cars in the parking lots and if they are caught by police, they are released only a few hours later. There was a shootout as well in front of a luxury property on S Harrison just a few months ago. It isn't safe at all for those who have families and/or need to commute to and from the train station at night. I would not recommend this area to anyone.
Conveniently located near grocery store, restaurants and public transportation. Would like more grocery store options.
