College of Fine Arts Requirements
Pre-Screening Requirement
School of Music applicants in cello, double bass, flute, viola, piano, trombone, trumpet, violin, and voice are required to submit a pre-screening recording by December 1. Exceptions include:
- Early Decision applicants
- Boston University Tanglewood Institute alumni

Auditions and Portfolio Reviews
Applicants to the School of Theatre, School of Music, and School of Visual Arts, with the exception of Music – Nonperformance majors, must complete an audition, submit a portfolio, or both.
