What are the general thoughts of the Astro Boy 2003 English dub?

Astro Boy 2003

I recently went thru it on TubiTv and love it on its own merit. I heard Astro fans complain about it back in the day but I contextualize what they had to do to air the show on kidswb, probably the strictest broadcasters for Saturday mornings in the US. I love the dub music too. I want to hear more from its composer.

Its very decent imo but obv compared to the Japanese one they made astro much more aggressive and loud (and the music too with the techno/guitars) but yea underrated

It’s good but I wish they kept the Japanese soundtrack

It's okay if you want a cleaner version of the show, you won't find much issues with it.

It does however break the Japanese Dub's established canon here and there for the sake of keeping the show even more 'kid friendly', so don't take all the story beats word for word in terms of how they're supposed to be. They cut scenes and dialogue very often

That's the Astro Boy I was introduced to, and the version I fell in love with. I have yet to check out the previous versions. Lol

I didn’t like the attitude they gave Astro, how much they cut out his more childish behaviors (like whenever he plays with toys) and I didn’t like that the first half was dubbed out of order! Or the censoring of Tobio’s death.

I hate it, astroboy sounds so cute in Japanese in English he sounds like a weird grandma mixed with generic boy voice.
