About Conya Doss

Cleveland-bred singer/songwriter Conya Doss had been performing since she was a child and eventually decided to follow her passion as an arts educator teaching children with learning disabilities in Cleveland public schools to express themselves creatively through song or rap. Her big break came in 1995, when she auditioned to sing backup for collaborator extraordinaire, Edwin “Tony” Nicholas, who has worked with R&B greats like Barry White, Freddie Jackson, Gerald Levert and also co-produced Joe’s 1999 smash hit, “I Wanna Know.” She released her first single, “Coffee” from her debut album, August 2002’s A Poem About Ms. Doss, under Cleveland based indie label, NuMecca/EMI imprint.

Subsequent follow-up albums, November 2004’s Just Because, after a two-year recording break Doss returned back on the music scene with her third album, October 2006’s Love Rain Down, April 2008’s Still, September 2010’s Blu Transition, and April 2012’s Pocketful of Purpose.
