When Claire Danes and Billy Crudup starting dating in 2003 it was a thing—like, a Big Thing, because at the time, Crudup was dating Mary-Louise Parker, his partner of eight years, who was seven months pregnant with his child. And though it was much talked about—the three are fixtures in Most Infamous Hollywood Love Triangles slideshows—none of the people actually involved have talked about it much.

But today, Danes opened up a bit about what it was like when that went down, telling Howard Stern that dealing with the backlash from the public was difficult, US Weekly reports. "That was a scary thing," she said of the situation. "That was really hard. I didn't know how to not do that."

"I was just in love with him," Danes said of Crudup, whom she met on the set of Stage Beauty. "And needed to explore that, and I was 24 . . . I
didn't quite know what those consequences would be. . . . But it's okay. I went through it."

Of course, that's all in the past now—she and Crudup ended their relationship in 2006, and Danes married actor Hugh Dancy in 2009—but we'll almost certainly hear more about this whole Thing when Mary-Louise Parker releases her upcoming non-fiction book, Dear Mr. You, which is a collection of letters written to some of the men in her life. We'll have to wait a month to read those letters, but for now, please enjoy this flashback to the 2004 Golden Globes, when Parker gave her new son, William Atticus Crudup, a special shoutout in her acceptance speech:
