Food wasn’t cooked and disappointed family

We always go to this location for family celebrations. Last night Sept 30th our family was shocked . It was very over booked , our table was practically in the doorway of room C. When it came to the food , No prime rib , no steak , everything looked to be empty . Then when we went to eat the food , it was bland , not cooked and tastes gross. The mashed potato’s tasted like clumps of sand , general tap chicken was not cooked properly and everyone at our table didn’t even finish one plate . They forgot to remove the plates , they didn’t fill our water or beverages . Overall we will not be coming back to this location . When we spoke to the manager she said she would rectify it by taking two adult meals off each bill and when the bill came they only removed our beverages as compensation. VERY UNPLEASANT, UN PROFESSIONAL !! Our family was very unhappy . Not to mention the Birthday girl barely ate !!!

Mandarin bad day

After covid pandemic we went at this location and get a bad experience . At the time of reservation on the phone i was told it will be a greeting for my daughter birthday but they forgot it totally . The buffet it is poor , the server took the sparkling wine the cup of tea with full glasses from the table at the time we take the dessert . After excuses they offered me to cancel from my bill one glass of sparkling wine . Not very clean and looks dated . Not recommend this location

Things have changed for the worse

Encountered disrespectful and discourteous staff while waiting to be seated with my son's. I guess it's difficult finding good help these days. Always enjoyed the Mandarin in the past. Things there seem to have changed. Ignorant staff ruined what should have been a pleasant family meal.

Cross Contamination

Hot Buffet was amazing. Service and atomsphere great. Salad bar: Shell fish surrounded around the garden salad even though it is in a seperate bowl the tongs are being used for both. This is a cause for cross contamation. If people are not aware and are alergic it could be a real problem. This is only my personnel opion because I really do not eat any of fish or shell fish but really so like a good salad.

Safest restaurant during pandemic.

If you want to stay safe during the pandemic this is the safest restaurant to choose. Masks have to be worn any time you leave the table, disposable gloves are provided for the buffet, hand sanitizer in each room, cutlery comes to the table in a sealed plastic bag for each person, tables and chairs are sanitized after each guest. If this isn't enough the Atmosphere, Food, Service, and Hospitality also rate high marks. Thanks to the manager Serena, who makes sure everybody's visit there is an enjoyable one!

Food was SO fresh

This is the third time I have visited the restaurant since the pandemic precautions were introduced. Obviously I have found the restaurant to be very safe - lots of social distancing, bags for your mask at the table, cutlery packaged separately for cleanliness etc. The Small Plate concept worked really well, we ended up be really full and the bill was less that the usual bill for the buffet. Food was SO fresh - coming straight from the kitchen and sometimes, the food was too hot to eat immediately. Took two 90+ y.o. relatives and they felt totally safe to. Well done Managers at NY Mandarin for creating such a comfortable experience.

First time dine-In after Pandemic re-open. Had excellent experience as always!

Dishes are served by small plate, feel like even tasty than ever,!!! The food like, Grill & Teppanyaki so tender, black pepper steak, Sweet & Sour Crispy Chicken,Salt & Pepper Shrimp was so delicious!! ....dessert had some new style like banana ice-cream boat so impressive. Dinning room service experience feel safe and nice too. really had good time today, will come back again and again..... thanks! Mandarin is always the 5 star restaurant in my mind!

Bad restaurant.

the food is not a fest, most of the food looks like come from yesterday taste juky (bad). Around 10 years ago, this restaurant was very good But now no more. too bad.

A Feel-Good Story about Exceptional Mandarin Customer Service During These Trying Times

We sometimes go to this North York Mandarin for celebrations. The buffet is varied, food is fresh, and staff friendly and attentive. The dining rooms and buffet area are clean. Even when busy, service is swift. Yesterday was my birthday and we decided to splurge and order takeout since we are not able to dine there due to the COVID-19 pandemic . We called and mentioned my birthday. The order taker offered to send jello for my birthday. When our food arrived, there was no jello. Few minutes later we got a call from the order taker. She apologized profusely and asked if we could send the delivery person back to our house with the jello. I said don't worry about it and thanked her for calling. Soon afterwards, the same delivery man showed up with a big smile with the promised jello and enough for all of us. We phoned back to say thank you and found out the order taker was one of the managers (Trista Wong). We feel strongly that Trista should be recognized for providing such excellent customer service. From the start when we called to order to our callback, we were treated with the utmost professionalism. Trista's kindness and the delivery man's did not go unnoticed. Kudos to both of them and the others working there last night. We strongly recommend this Mandarin location. Also to note, there is ample parking and TTC buses go right past. Our apologies for such a lengthy review.

Two days ago I went to Mandarine to celebrate my birthday with my friends. The food was really good as always. The place was clean and there was hand sanitizer next to every room and all around buffet. The washroom was well maintained . Will be there again soon

I went here with my family 2 days ago. Everything is so nice and clean. When i just come inside the staff is very friendly said “ Hi “ to me and i can find the Sanitizer right at the door, I even can see there is a lots around the buffet. Every time I went to their to ask for something the staff always wash hands first before give me the thing I need. Its very good when seeing the restaurant is Clean and Nice, especially at this moment.

Bad hygiene

Went to the washroom had to clear my throat and wash my had when I went in the I was washing my hands and I noticed a guy on the urinal its was an employee he literally came off the urinal and walked straight out without washing his hands so followed he walk into a door in the bar that leads to the back so I told the manager and she looked at me like I was crazy saying our employees don't use that washrooms I don't get why would I make that up I'm done with that place

Definitely Gone Down the Tubes!

I used to love this Mandarin location but the last 3 times we have ordered from here we have been sorely disappointed! We order New Year's Eve 2019 and I have to say it was the worst yet! Mostly huge hunks of broccoli on top of noodles, huge hunks of pork, mostly fat and could not even chew the pork once I went to the trouble of cutting off all the fat. The veggies were all huge and had to cut each one up. The rice was not cooked and the beef dish was about 5 pieces of beef and the rest was broccoli. The order was not put in one of the recyclable bags that they usually gave but a plastic bag. I think this location has changed hands and quality has since become zero. The order was cold which led me to believe I was given left overs from the buffet. I will never order from the Mandarin again!
