The Lady Comets Volleyball teams had their home opener last night against Ottawa Marquette. Both the freshman and the JV teams from RC won 25-19, 25-20 and 21-24, 25-23, 25-18 respectively. For the freshman team, Samantha Bruns led the way with 2 digs, 3 aces and 4 kills. Newcomer to the Reed-Custer family, Alysha Fisher, added another astounding 7 aces and 2 digs. Defense was key in the JV’s win. Jenna Tiangco had an amazing 16 digs while Savannah Bruns added 15 more and Emma Ritze 10 on top of that. Along with their high numbers in digs, Tiangco had 3 aces and Bruns had 4 aces with her 19 set assists. Maddie McPherson led offensively with 8 kills. The Varsity lost a great match in 2: 17-25, 2125. Defense kept the match close with Alexis Cieslak having 7 digs, Maddi Tiangco with 6 and both Taylor Toler and Kaily Collins adding another 5 each. Track and Field Awards Night

Track Awards Night will take place on Tuesday, May 22nd at 6:30 p.m. in the cafeteria. All athletes should plan to attend with their parents. Those who are done practicing before then, can turn in their uniform and sweats to Coach Roth in room 107 BEFORE school (NOT between classes) any day between now and then. Otherwise, all uniform pieces must be turned in at Awards Night or fines will be issued for those items not returned.

Casting Comets Advance to State

The Casting Comets had a productive weekend.   Blake Glad and Will Ritze took first in another Illinois Bass Nation tournament on Saturday.  Then the Comets followed up with a great showing at the IHSA sectionals on Braidwood Lake.  The boat team of John Koerner, Sergei Murrell, Jackson Lambert, and John Hunt took 4th with 9lbs 7oz, and the boat team of Blake Gad, Will Ritze, and Ryan Cavanaugh took 2nd place with 11lbs 13oz.  Blake, Will and Ryan have advanced to the state tournament next week at Carlyle Lake.

JV Lady Comets Tame the Tigers

The JV Lady Comets improved to 6-5 defeating Herscher in 5 innings yesterday by a score of  22-5. Leading the offense was Emily Mazon. She went 3 for 4 with 5RBIs. Also getting multiple hits for the Comets were Kendall Scasny, Hannah Coster, Naomi Gomez, Maddie McPherson, Natalie Bragg and Allie Shaw.
