A village holds spirits of missing, deceased people. A search to find the missing bodies and discover the truth behind their disappearance occurs.

Kim Wook (Ko Soo) is a smooth talker and a good-looking man. He commits fraud to make a living. One day, he happens to arrive at Duon Village, where the missing dead gather. He soon faces numerous mysteries.

Jang Pan-Seok (Heo Jun-Ho) is a mysterious figure. He secretly looks for missing people. He is the connection between Duon Village and the outside world. He becomes a fraud partner with Kim Wook and he solves cases.

Lee Jong-A (Ahn So-Hee) is Kim Wook's supporter. She is a white hat hacker out to gain social justice. She works as a law-ranking public officer at a community center as her day job.

Shin Joon-Ho (Ha-Joon) is an elite detective. One month prior to his wedding with Choi Yeo-Na (Seo Eun-Su), his fiancé disappeared. To find her, he applies for the missing person squad.

hio Jan 16 2024 11:19 am i loved this drama! it had everything i like to see in a mystery series. though, im still confused about who can see the missing and the villages. the drama mentioned that maybe the family of the missing (blood related) could see them... but i wonder why ha-neul's mother (the little boy from episode 1), couldnt see him. i havent watched season 2 yet, but if the answer is there, please let me know! curiosity is killing me ?

Suzanne Dec 11 2023 3:37 pm I agree with Der. Why on earth would anyone dislike, much less feel some need to post that they’re just here to say they “hate” her? Very weird. I hoped all along that she would actually, somehow, be found alive. I loved Jang mi’s character, she was so sweet it was so tragic that she never knew good people in her life. My only criticism is whoever came up with her growing long stemmed roses, like the potted ones she gave away, needs to do a tiny bit of research on how they grow & what they would look like if you would repot them. That was a bit silly.

She was seriously one of the least problematic and unfortunate characters in this drama. Instead of saying you hate Kang Myung Jin or Lee Dong Min, you’re gonna hate on someone whose life got cut short because of someone’s greed? Dude you’ve got problems.

It's assumed that there are multiple places like Duon village and Hyeonji went to a different place instead. This is evident by the ending where the little kid with ball stated that she saw Hyeonji's dad and then entered another realm with the other kids.

ahn Oct 18 2022 11:00 am when this drama came out, i personally didnt want to watch it cause the poster kinda meh. i thought its about a 'missing village' like in horror movie. but i saw a clip about yeo-na first meeting with jun-ho after she died. it so heartbreaking, i end up put it in my watchlist. just finish watching it, i kinda regret that i didnt watch it sooner. it kinda has the same vibe with signal, but more light. for me, it was a good drama. i cant wait for the second season

Unfortunately, from the first episode, this series reminds me a lot of Hotel Del Luna which is a better show due to IU and OSTs.

Yet, recommended watch, this series is still better than many recent K-drama releases.

the first half of episode 1 is really interesting

but as soon as we reach the ghost village, things get really uncomfortable.

It's even worse than eerie feeling. You could literally feel empty, after a heartwarming scene, they did that bullcrap.

I have never watched a kdrama that really discomfort me...

Also too many male main characters.. no balance at all

And then how they grieve when the missing are found to have died. Great story...great script...great acting. Take a bow cast and crew...I applaud your art.

A few scenes meant to be touching were ruined because of the voice of the singer in the background being too loud. Maybe the actor overdid the scene and the editing was on purpose to cover it?

How the heck is any Self Defence excessive if the person is physically attacking with a knife? The choice is get raped and murdered or fight back and go to prison 4+7 years? How can someone carefully defend themselves or their wife who is tied up and the knife and inch from her neck to make certain he lives? Harmony, Touch your Heart, etc.. all this same notion. That Self Defence is not something successfully defended in such life and death situations and the victim goes to prison…

Nevermind me Jun 22 2021 10:24 am Hey @Aysha as you can see at the synopsis Wook is the main lead cause everything happen revolves around him. If you watched/watching Wook can saw the village one day. So basically the story is about this three friends always together, but then everything change suddenly. That begin the story that happening around Wook. He got to know almost everything happen and try to join/solve as he can. For the heroine, maybe it could be Jong A cause they're friend and she always help Wook finding missing people identities. But i think there's not heroine but rather two hero which Wook and Pan seok ajjushi. It could also be Yeona and Joon Ho the second lead which Yeona is the heroin that lead to finding on Joon Ho character. Well again Kim Wook is the main lead I sure of.

I was glad that I kept on watching despite my doubt. Trust me, it gets better as the story unfolds. It kind of took me by surprised. I wasn't expecting a warm heart broken story like this one. Make sure you have some tissues beside you as the story come to an end. I like the fact that the story didn't lag and go on forever. The length of the drama was perfect. No downtime. Overall, I think the story and actor are amazing. Especially Ha-Joon and Seo Eun-Su. They were able to show and demonstrate the emotions of their characters so well. In fact, I was hoping for a happy ending for Joon-Ho and Yeo-Na, but I guess that's a bit stretching. Anyway, I hope they'll make a second season. Enjoy.

When in most crime dramas we feel relieved to see the case solved, but here it was kinda heartbreaking whenever they finally found the missing bodies bc that's only mean a farewell to everyone in the village T.T

But my suggestion to those evils like the one who killed Mr jung’s daughter He wasn’t supposed to die that easily. Most directors preferred to kill the villains but I wish they could stay in prison for the whole time or they were crippled just to make them feel pain. By the way the drama is so good I can’t describe that. And what I noticed is that the drama is unpredictable. At first I though wook could be really the grandchild of Ms. Han I never imagined he could be The detective. Congrats the whole crew of the Missing: The Other side I hope season 2 Mr Jung will see her daughter to other world and at least be happy because he struggled a lot to find her

I love the scenery from the Duon village, it just looks beautiful. 12 episode were perfect, not too long, not too short. Every episode is worth watching. Funny, mystery,... you can expect anything. Didn't regret it at all. One of the best dramas ever! Probably the best in 2020 (better than the mainstream ones) :) Please watch it guys!

Thomas said that there might be another "Duon Village" which may exist. If my assumptions are right, Hyun Ji wasn't there because of those ghost kids who are playing in the underground? I want a season 2 because Wook and Mr. Jang can still see ghost and maybe that place where they meet that little girl is also a place for missing bodies in which Hyun Ji were able to stay.

11bravo Oct 26 2020 2:50 am Great drama, really got caught up in it. Very satisfying mix of drama, fantasy, crime, family, etc. Bittersweet given the story, but great writing, very well delivered. Too bad it was only 12 episodes, not the usual 16 (another Covid19 casualty?). The last episode seemed to be a bit rushed, wrapping things up a bit too quickly. But certainly emotional... Hopefully, Netflix will pick Season 1 up, it will do well, and there will be a Season 2.

On the side note, I have been trying to find the background music (not OSTs) for this drama but no luck. I especially love the melodramatic music at the opening & ending scenes. Any of you might know??

A big Hurraaaaaaay to team " Missing.."

Season 2, please. The ending can be a start of another good story. The other side this time could be the world of the departed who can access the world of the living to join forces with the remaining 3 musketeers to find culprits of unresolved cases. Their dead loved ones in Season 1 are those who can help from the other side. The 4 musketeers will be reunited.

Hoping for Season 2.

Glad to see Heo Jun-Ho, not as the usual (and terrifying) serial killer, rather "on the other side" of the story. And the twist in the last scene was just daebak!. Missing... is like the Children of Nobody (MBC, 2018) of this year, another crime serial with a low rating but an amazing and sensitive story. By the way, for being aired by a cable channel/pay TV, it was not so bad rating with 4.8% :)

OCN usually serves dark and thriller genres but this one is thriller-fantasy which made me cried for several times bcs it really hits me. The plot was interesting, it keeps making me guessing this or that and kinda make me curious for several things so I keep watching it. It's good but, how I wish Thomas scene could be longer and more dramatic bcs I have a high anticipation once they find out Thomas' body since his character is very interesting

But i guess the last episode was a little too rushed. The exit scenes of the all the most important villagers could have been more impactful. And most of all, mr. Jang's sad 10yrs ended just like that. The drama left with a lot of voids. In the end, the deep seated root of the story which i was looking forward to did not come off the surface.. Still, it was worth the watch.. Nice.

Of course it's better than Hotel De Luna. The writing is perfect and the twists are good too. Maybe some of the plot predictable, but I'll keep watching this. Also, stunning cinematography.

He has the potential of a leading man and puts me in the mind of a mixture of like Jung Kyung Ho and Kim Young Kwang. Was hoping to see more of him in this series, but sad to see how the plot developed... hope he gets more roles in the future because I'm curious to see more from him in the future and see if I'm right about his potential and natural talent!

abgail Sep 06 2020 12:02 pm really love the story, it's kinda supernatural genre, between life and death world. i really like this kind of story. it has comedy too so it doesn't get too boring when it has thriller feel in it. the only thing i feel bad is, tbh ahn so hee's acting here is quite bad for a female lead. kinda annoying to see but because her appearance isn't as many as the other, i still think it's fine. can't wait for the next episodes

LKB May 13 2020 5:58 am I'll be a little surprised if Ahn So Hee, as well as she seems to pull off kinda-eerie (and seems more fit for the hacker with a day job/SES for the fiance than vice versa), is the FL here instead of much more experienced Seo Eun Soo... could go either way (ie she could be a missing fiance cameo or she could be in tons of scenes to find her, all the retracing etc-still no cast for the Channel A Miss Mom Jane apart from her, so no telling if it'll be shelved or delayed)... In any case, I'm happy to see more dark content from OCN, from Go Soo, from Heo Jun Ho, and even Ha Joon (though I had to double check if it was the same Black Dog teacher Ha Joon-that picture hardly resembles him of late).
