      Critics Consensus

Though predictable and, at times, poorly paced, The Whispers is a structurally sound and stimulating supernatural mystery with an enjoyable ensemble of creepy kids.

David Hinckley New York Daily News To its credit, The Whispers gets better by the end of the first episode. Unfortunately, it also shows signs of hurtling toward more complications than we need. Rated: 2/5 Oct 30, 2015 Full Review Shirley Li Entertainment Weekly The lights flicker one more time before the show fades out and the end credits roll and all of us are left with goosebumps. Oct 30, 2015 Full Review Emily L. Stephens AV Club For all its on-the-nose emotional beats and obfuscating larger plot, The Whispers is taking its time with the central mystery of what exactly Drill is whispering, and why, and it's got me hooked... for a few episodes, at least. Rated: B- Jun 3, 2015 Full Review Randy Dankievitch TV Over Mind [T]he latest in a line of shows trying to revive the summer miniseries with hackneyed plots and characters. Mar 5, 2020 Full Review Kari Croop Common Sense Media It's certainly not the worst thing on, but it isn't as great as it could be. Rated: 3/5 Jun 3, 2015 Full Review Cory Barker TV.com This pilot episode did a solid, efficient job of establishing the premise and the characters without relying on too many cheap conventions of the genre or sloppy twists. Audience Member Excellent and needs to be renewed for a second season Great Cast and good story keep it up Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Francisco S Despite some episodes that suffer from boredom, it is replete of twists and it is a refreshing theme in nowadays, that count with powerful performances by its talented stars, and I have to say the children couldn't be better chosen, and with a help of an unexpected end and the well written narrative, The Whispers deserves to be watched by all of the Sci Fi fans. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 09/12/15 Full Review Audience Member Despite some episodes that suffer from boredom, it is replete of twists and it is a refreshing theme in nowadays, that count with powerful performances by its talented stars, and I have to say the children couldn't be better chosen, and with a help of an unexpected end and the well written narrative, The Whispers deserves to be watched by all of the Sci Fi fans. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member It's polished enough to be fun, it's got a fantastic assemble of scary kids and it's got two or three very good episodes. It trips on its own trips, though, and is not good enough to be unforgettable, but it's not bad enough to be unwatchable. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member The show started innocently, everything seemed normal but then slowly the mystery creeps in and as it does you’re getting sucked into the story. The Whispers is definitely not the most original show this year but it is a good one. You sort of know where it goes but you also wanna see how it plays out because the characters are somewhat interesting and the storytelling is satisfying. The history between the Benningans and Lawrences made it a little more interesting because as a viewer you know that it will hinder the progress of the investigation, which is frustrating, but at the same time you know that it’s human nature. The children are the great and I mean the characters as well as the actors. They’re innocent and creepy as hell at the same time and not once did they felt like stupid kids for listening to a voice in their head. The Whispers is quite the entertaining show despite using an old formula that we’ve seen and revisited again and again. I was on a sort of a sugar high as I watched the last seven episodes in one go. @wornoutspines Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member Loving this a lot, just gets better as it goes on.
