Namrata Joshi The Hindu Be it as brutal violators or patronising saviours of women, Simmba shows that it all boils down to the same toxic masculinity which the men behind Simmba have been perpetuating film after film. Jan 15, 2019 Full Review Saibal Chatterjee NDTV How much one warms up to the excesses of an incessantly roaring Simmba will depend wholly on the extent of our willingness to lay down our critical faculties and lap up this championing of vigilantism. Rated: 2/5 Jul 21, 2020 Full Review Poulomi Das Arré If Simmba is Rohit Shetty's idea of what justice looks for women, I can only hope that we don't have to sit through a film that is his version of what equality looks like. Mar 11, 2019 Full Review Vishal Menon Film Companion ...it degenerates into yet another badly-written Tamil comedy. Rated: 2/5 Jan 28, 2019 Full Review Nandini Ramnath Scroll.in Simmba is a watered-down version - more Distemper than Temper. Jan 15, 2019 Full Review Devesh Sharma Filmfare If Sanjay Leela Bhansali is the director who made Ranveer into an actor having a cupboard full of awards, Rohit Shetty is the person who will be credited with turning him into a massy hero. Audience Member A movie I personally enjoyed and a perfect combination of actor and director in this one (Ranveer-Rohit). Set in the same universe as Singham, you'll notice similarities but the movie still entertains. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/05/23 Full Review jay p A Rohit Shetty masterclass. From the violence to the end, the film is a great. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 04/04/22 Full Review yash b A lot of "Simmba" is nonsensical and pretty dumb, but at its core, it does have a good heart. Make no mistake, this isn't a good movie by any means, but since it is well-intentioned, it is also not a completely awful one either. The first hour was a struggle because it felt like it was going through the motions of a movie designed to be mindless entertainment and nothing really interesting or new happened. The second half was a bit better, but the movie is still very overdramatic and struggles with focusing on the over-the-top action scenes that probably work the best. The storytelling is messy and the message feels a bit misplaced in a movie like this, so ultimately I am not sure the movie works. There are fun moments where I could turn my brain off and enjoy it, but overall this movie is not really worth the time. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Copy of a south movie. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/24/23 Full Review Audience Member I know I am being a massive contrarian here, but yes, I enjoyed Simmba. You can atleast be this generous for Rohit Shetty. He only knows how to pull off comfort in the mass movies. And 'Simmba' offers a good slice of the mainstream. Ranveer Singh pulls off the old world charm in a no-nonsense, corrupt but sensible performance, and Rohit shines in his best film. 'Simmba' is unhealthy, but deliciously creative entertainment with all the element all over the place, and style of substance, flight of fancy. Cop universe's got its finest supercop- I mean their Captain America. With its referential excitement it soars on screen. I am going with 2.5 for 'Simmba'. Ranveer Singh makes the film's score go up. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/25/23 Full Review Audience Member Its a good entertainer but lacking the emotional punch form TEMPER Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/02/23 Full Review Read all reviews
