Look what they've done to my song, Ma...
The quality of the archive is very good. Thanks for preserving this...for historical reasons.....
Somebody (HBO Max? Warner Brothers?) went to A LOT of trouble to remove most of the music from the original film. They left in Wendy Carlos' Timesteps and Suicide Scherzo, but cut every other piece written by her and replaced them with something that resembles bad 8-bit computer generated "music" from '80s video games. They cut out the orchestral version of The Thieving Magpie and replaced it with silence (Wendy Carlos' version of The Thieving Magpie never made it into the original movie). They cut out Gene Kelly's Singing in the Rain and replaced it with more bad computer generated "music" (and again, Wendy Carlos' version of Singing in the Rain never made it into the original movie). The reason they spent the time and effort to do this to a 50 year old movie is beyond baffling.
Added later....I logged into HBO Max, and the soundtrack on A Clockwork Orange was just fine, unadulterated. I have no idea on what's up the the alternate soundtrack.
