Salinas High School Reviews
Rating 3.75 out of 5 406 reviews
I’ve been going to Salinas High since freshman year, and I’m currently ending my junior year. It’s a decent school with some incredible teachers, and the school provides free breakfast and lunch for all students. The counselors are all pretty good, and the head counselor is super efficient when it comes to getting things done. It’s also a pretty nice campus with some interesting history. The only downsides are that the administration of the school is pretty poor, and our school has some problems with racism despite majority of the student population being non-white. Everything else is very nice though! I’d rate my school a 4/5 overall.
The teacher connections I made at Salinas High School are ones that I'll always remember. In my classes, I've always felt cared for and attended to. However, there is a lack of strong school spirit, and the school facilities, such as school bathrooms, are lacking. As well, the school administration has always felt distant, and as someone who has been a long-time participant in the arts, the music and theater departments are not well supported by the administration. In the future, I would really like to see more funding going towards the arts.
As a student who has been apart of Salinas high all four years, I would definitely say that it was a good high school experience. From the football games to clubs and the programs the school offers, I learned a lot from all aspects. Some of the clubs I am apart of are the Lego club and acappella, being a part of different clubs allowed me to make great connections with my peers and find new things that I am passionate about. One of the pro games I joined was Jump Start to College which gave me an idea as what the application process was and I had a head start on my application as well. The events held by the school were always a great experience from dances to sporting events, it was everything that one would imagine high school being like. One of the best parts I will take away from Salinas high would be the amazing staff. Every teacher and staff member at Salinas high made me feel like I had someone I can go to for help and trust with if I ever had an issue with anything.
