- Edited 13 years agoA horrible phone call audio interview with Trent Reznor. When it first came out it had a wonderful cover of some gelatin flesh woven with human hair on the cover which was later replaced by a picture of a ripple in water. This release is a hidden gem. It is one of the few times Trent discusses how he chooses samples and gives a rare insight into the Broken movie directed by Peter Christopherson, "Sleazy" of Coil. If you are a NIN fan and you have not seen it. Do it. It's a pseudo fake snuff film, in which a teen playing basketball is abducted (while a very simple ominous Coil track plays). He is tortured (with a blow torch) and castrated. All the while his kidnapper watches and forces his victim to watch Broken videos in his garage. The Broken movie will never be released. If you followed Coil 3/4 of what they do is never officially released. A bootleg of The Broken Movie circulated in the mid 90's through a VHS tape called, "Nine Inch Nails: The X Files". It's graphic, really graphic. I only pay so much credence to it here because this is the only interview that I have found where Trent actually talks about it. He did this interview in the Charles Manson/Sharron Tate murder house (where the downward spiral was recorded). This really is "disturbed" if you look at the big picture. Full of Trent talking about the sound of hands slapping a dead Elephant and other odd bits. Horrible audio but fitting for this bootleg release. I added a photo of the Nine Inch Nails X Files VHS cover.
