Mount Vernon High School Reviews
Rating 3.68 out of 5 354 reviews
The teachers are ok. the school is more used by teachers a transfer school so they will come spend 2 years and then go else where. same with the admins but i see more staying then the teachers. security is normal. School sports there lots of sports just no one really want to play them so there all either mid or bad expect football and wrestling with football winning there division. There no real school sprit because no one wants to. People say there are drug problems and there are just not any of the hard stuff just vape and weed. There are some parents that are really involved and then there are some that distance themself. The county doesn't like this school for some reason and will put people in other schools that live next to mount Vernon to a school father away. There's a ton a resources and the high school has a lot of protentional but the standards at the school need to be raised to compete with other schools in the area.
Of the three high schools I've attended, Mount Vernon is my favorite, but there are some "major" issues. Drugs and fights are common, but fights tend to be dealt with swiftly. There's also a lack of standardized mass communication between teachers, students, families, and administration. There are plenty of resources available, but no one knows where to look because of the lack of information. The College & Career Center is a fantastic resource, and the counselor in charge does her best to keep students informed.
Mount Vernon High School has a great amount of sports, clubs and events for students. This allows students to find activities that cultivate teamwork in the school. The teachers and coaches are true mentors that assist with personal and academic goals. This is not just a job for the teachers, they actually engage in our personal lives to ensure we have resources to focus on school instead of worrying about outside influences.
